it will run for about 30 seconds then just closes!

Open cmd and you should be in the directory which has steemd.exe, now run the below cmd:
steemd.exe --resync

and then copy paste the downloaded (http://www.steemitup.eu/ ) blockchain again in the same folder as you did earlier

re-run steemd.exe
