So in our last post we touched on why it is easy to do outreach for photographers. If you have not read it, take a look here.
But, going back and reading it isn't necessary if you understand the power that pictures have on Steemit and Steemit Apps.
Let's assume you have gotten some friends, professional photographers or even yourself interested in signing up for Steemit in order to share photos and earn money.
That's great, but let's help them off to a running start. There is nothing more discouraging than starting out on Steemit, working hard and getting no response.
So hopefully, you are supporting new members that you've introduced to Steemit through votes and comments but here is a little tip to encourage your photog friends a little further.
Photocontests
credit: Photocontests
Photocontests are exactly as they sound. Contests to aggregate amazing photos and show them off. But, regardless of the contest outcome everyone that participates, and participates often is a winner!
Everybody wins because you can submit twice per day and earn votes and exposure points each time you do.
These amazing contests are sponsored by @photocontests and were the brainchild of @juliank and have proven thus for to be among the most valuable promotions we have come across to help newbies on the platform.
Here is how it works.
The long and short of it is that @photocontests has allocated Steem Power to a bot that will automatically upvote entrants who use a certain hashtag associated with the contests. When the upvote is given, a comment is generated and it explains the perks of that vote and the details. With each submission (2 a day max) the user earns exposure points which will increase over time. This will encourage users to keep submitting and growing the project.
Please refer to @photocontests intro post here for details.
The hashtags below corresespond to contests are subject to change but here they are as of the publishing of this post. NOTE: You must enter the hashtag as the first tag in your post or the bot will not recognize as an entry.
Monday: #foodphotography and #animalphotography
Tuesday: #landscapephotography and #cityscapephotography
Wednesday: #architecturalphotography and #vehiclephotography
Thursday: #macrophotography and #colourfulphotography
Friday: #streetphotography and #portraitphotography
Saturday: #sportsphotography and #smartphonephotography
Sunday: #goldenhourphotography and #longexposurephotography
By using and supporting the Photocontests your new members will be guaranteed to earn at least something while they get their feet wet in the community.
Being able to monetize the photo library they already have on their phone is very enticing and has a strong appeal so don't waste the opportunity to do outreach in this manner.
Remember what we always say: Return on Community > Return On Investment
Keep it up Great article you have written
Thank you kindly! most too come very soon!
