Steem can be a disrupter if they work on the interface and features to compare to facebook. Facebook has marketplace and groups and games and private chat. I think comparing steem to facebook is probably clickbait at best. Steem is really more like twitter/wordpress than facebook.
The one real issue is that there is no advertising here. Hard to bring some of the money that may be being made on youtube/etc from entrepreneurial types off of advertising. (for better or worse)
Unfortunately, it's the nature of the beast that people making a living like ad revenue or direct kickbacks from companies, so getting the people who make a good living on the bigger social networks is going to be a hard sell until/if steem reaches a critical mass.
