Finally an update from my dumpster diving mission. It's been a challenge to free the food lately as they try to hide and put locks on everything. They really don't want people to know or get it as it's such an insane amount of food. But I found a way to get into the best place again but it takes some serious ninja skillz! Summer is here though so gonna start foraging more as there's so much good food growing everyhwere around here, greens, fruit, berries etc. So here's a little update, got much more in stock but most is in the freezers. Been eating like a king last few days, so much peppers and cherry tomatoes, nomnomnom! :D

Dumpster diving

The practice of foraging in garbage that has been put out on the street in dumpsters, garbage cans, etc., for discarded items that may still be valuable, useful, or fixable.

Introducing Trashwiki, the collaborative world wide guide of creating value from trash! Here you will find plenty of trash-related articles: you can search by specific countries and cities to find the best places in your area!

Why do I Dumpster Dive?

Bring awareness on how much food is wasted with our current system
No costs enabling me to minimize my dependency on Fiat
Save the abundance of food that is wasted and share it
No need to power down my Steem Power
Great regular exercise and good karma

Thursdays Weekly Meet-ups:

We meet up on Thursdays in the middle of the city to share the food we've saved during the week. It's a great way to meet, connect and support each other. We meet between 6-7 pm at the same time as the decentralized farmers market that I've initiated in Gothenburg!

I also invite people over to share the abundance which is a great way to share the abundance as well as taking the opportunity to introduce them to the Steem blockchain!

You are really a resourseful man my friend. Many of us didnt realise what effort it takes to bring the food in our table. Like the rice for example, it takes 105-150 days to make it. Consider all the effort of people and how God showered it with love and pour rays of the sun. And here we are can easily throw with no guilt in our heart. If we imagine all of this I dont think anyone will throw away again their food in the garbage.

You have so much food @reko, you need to start a food blog :D

true, been thinking out it actually as I've been cooking a lot of food lately...it's not even close to as beautiful as your creations though but it tastes good lol

I'm sure you can get creative with the variety of goods you got haha, doesn't need to look pretty as long as it tastes good :)

true true I'll give it a shot!:D

Yeah, call it cooking with @reko hahaha

some of the best creations I've made have been a hodge-podge of pantry items... never to be repeated again. TASTES awesome and can NEVER replicate it again if I had to

hehehe exactly!:D

AJ picked your post @reko for his #TOP5 FOOD POST. Visit AJ's FOOD ROUNDUP to view where your post is ranked.

HOLY SHIT!!!
That is a ton of food that could have been wasted! My aussie friend told me her and her friends dumpster dive for their food. I considered doing it myself but had forgotten to try and take on the mission.
Oh man! I got to see if I can do this in my city!

34,540.661 SP??? holy moly! I think I have 49. lol
this is amazing, I'm a new follower so I had no idea about this, it
blows me away. Is this the case all over the world or just in your
country for some reason? is it primarily supermarkets?
extremely unusual and interesting post thank you!

it's in all parts of the food chain and it has to stop. If you look at trashwiki you can see that it's really bad in many places on the world atm

very interesting but a little disturbing! I'll go check that out,
the good part is that your group is helping alot of people in
need though, correct, like the homeless?
does Sweden have homeless?
thank you Sir!

we do indeed but they have other places to go to...I give to anyone that wants it as that is the most effective strategy...there's so much food that it's enough for everyone and then more

this just sounds insane to me!
but you are a good man @reko and doing great work!

very disturbing indeed

very interesting but a little disturbing! I'll go check that out, thank you Sir!

It continues to boggle my mind the amount of food that goes to the dumpsters every day in first and second world countries. They could feed the homeless, the poor and help out to wipe out starvation in third world countries. Why hide it and lock it up? Why not put these products to good use? Let me guess...some government agency has said it would be unsanitary/unhealthy to eat them.

bad for business I'd say. No laws against giving it away or selling it cheaper here.

So in other words...It's mine and you can't have it!

exactly

Whoa!! So glad you ninja'd your way in! That would have been such a waste of food! (love the white night moniker!!)

hehehe thanks...I'll see if I can borrow my friends gopro so you can see me in action!^^

That would be totally EPIC!!

The White Knight of Trash - I love it! You certainly earned that moniker.

You're making me jealous looking at all those peppers. I love them and they are crazy expensive around here. Good luck with your future adventures.

same here and they were not even cllose togoing bad and they even had a pack of herbs and olive oil in every pack, woop woop :D

The FOOD NINJA strikes again!

Wow it's definitely cool how much stuff you're able to get from dumpster diving, and the message is loud and clear!

I think supermarkets are kind of like a double edge sword, they DO provide farmers and small business with larger markets to sustain their businesses however like your showing, don't put the environment and the people who may need it first. Interesting post!

Share, please, with food! Sometimes we die of hunger! (humor)

always share just drop by any time;)

You are doing a great Nobel work

thank you:)

Wow such much foods for everyone , I wish am there with you to have my share of all those goodies

Was that mold I spotted on the blue cheese you scored? 😸

which one? :o

This one )source so much mold ;)

@reko, congrats, we are with you!!

Greeting from Mexico!

hi @reko !
HOW ! you save so much food ! I'm totally by your side, I used to do it much more before, butt still when I see a pretty full garbage ;)
it's crazy, not so far, one third of the total food produced is almost directly throw away, turn me mad !

wowow. Very impressive. Any tips for a first time diver?

I want to start bike touring and was thinking I could dive as I went. When going into a new town, what do you look for to find the best dumpsters?

This is really amazing, what you're doing! I commend you. Keep up the great work.

That's amazing. Much dives, many foods, I am wow.

In all seriousness that's an insane amount of food and I'm glad you got it! I'll have to follow you now and see what's going on in the dumpster diving scene...
