Meet-up at the "Solidary Fridge" Initative
The meet-up was a real blast! A crap load of food was handed out and we cooked some tasty food for everyone to eat as well. I had a real nice time and we made some plans how we could make a big difference in 2018 to minimize the food waste here in Gothenburg, Sweden!

This is just so awesome. I can't wrap my head around the amount of food that is wasted. We live on a homestead and we waste nothing! Everything has a use. Just think of all the hunger we can eliminate by not wasting food! It boggles the mind.
Impossible to grasp how the extent is being done before you've seen it with your own eyes! No one has to go hungry soon though good times are comin'!
That is a truly impressive amount of free food you are saving from waste stream.
Are there many other dumpster divers in your city (Gothenburg)?
Do the supermarkets make any effort to stop you getting their waste food? Or are you saving their consciences for them...
We're working on many levels at the moment but most stores are only greenwashing but we'll get it under control in 2018! :)

Diving seems to be the way to go if you have access.
I have worked on a couple of community projects here in the UK where we have tried to get supermarkets to donate their waste food for free food projects.
They have generally refused quoting 'health and safety' issues (!!) and instead offer us vouchers to use in their stores.
Small independent stores have been fine.
Keep on diving...
Yup they have many excuses why not to give the food away but we're having more luck here lately! :)
