Almost 5 days ago I made my first prediction for Steem and SBD fortunes for first month of the year - January. So far I'm right. In that post I mentioned that Steem will finally surpass SBD and will become Steemit's most valuable currency. All of the users that gave feedback and commented under my post agreed with me.

Judging by stats online on websites such as coinmarketcap.com we can see that it actually happened. Steem topped SBD. However it still went other way than I expected myself. I was hoping for Steem actually rocketing up and surpassing SBD by that. But prices dropped down twice for second time. From 10$ per Steem to 6$ and finally to 3$ per Steem. Same with SBD: 14$ -> 6$ -> 3$ per SBD.
Of course, not only Steem and SBD sharply decreased, all other currencies too. And there is good explanation why this happened. One guy @acidyo made a post about this mentioning that most of the Asian crypto holders sold and are still selling their savings because of upcoming holiday which is very important for them and they spend quite a lot during that time. And these dips happen every year so we shouldn't be worried!
@acidyo post
Bought $2k worth of STEEM at $5.50 before the crash. AMA
Woah duuude.. Feel ya.. But don't worry! I'm pretty sure it'll straight rocket up to at least 14$ a piece! Hold on! ;)
i thought as much, thank you @pjo for your info, but i want to ask real quick, which do you think is healthier for steemit, high SBD or STEEM?
still a green horn in crypto wold.
@arinzechukwu from Nigeria.
Hey @arinzechukwu. Well it actually depends on how we look at it. If Steem finally rockets up leaving SBD way behind, then new authors would suffer because they're not well familiar with market and probably wont do any trading and stuff. SBD in general is more simple..? I think I can call it that way.
Personally I would go with Steem. Since Steem has supposed to be the main currency of this platform and also because if Steem would sharply increase, we would get attention of other crypto enthusiasts which would attract new users into steemit.
Okay...that means it's a win win situation now that the SBD and steem are both high..?
Thanks
For authors on steemit that may be not very good news but overall it is very good for growth of steemit. and as far as prices drop concern it is happening with almost every crypto currency. fear and uncertainty is hurting market.
I see.. But I mean SBD were never meant to be most valuable currency. I don't think that'll be very hard to switch between SBD and Steem. It will also help authors to be more familiar with whole crypto system since we have our own really simple made market and we can really play with our savings there before we go out to the crypto world.
P.S Don't worry about the prices. We know that whole market is 'wavy' and waves fall down once they get up. But I agree with fear of new investors hurting market even more. Lets take this as an upcoming tsunami. You get it? Now that whole water is getting back from the shore it means that the big wave is coming.
it seems someone decided to pull out his massive SBD pump money. Things are looking normal rly.
No need to worry. We will get back on track if korea decides not to ban crypto.
In my opinion, all this Korea thing wont be actually happening. I know that Korea had some thoughts of controlling whole crypto system in their country, but that just doesn't seem to work out. So they're now just scaring people to sell their savings and minimize crypto currency supplies in country. But we will see, hopefully nothing bad happens!
I really hope to have more predictions as posts like this are the ones teaching us about the crypto world. I'm excited that steem is bouncing back soonest though.
Yes. I really like prediction posts about whole crypto system. It often calms me down after seeing the drastic price drops or just allows me to learn about the world surrounding crypto.
Love steem it keep it up

It's hard to wrap my head around what pushes the values to different places but I will catch on sooner or later.
Mildly battering myself for not putting every single SBD into Steem when the rate was 1 : 5.5
Still super happy to be here ;)
Well.. I sold my Steem when its price increased from 2$ to 3.5$ and woke up next day with a surprise of Steem price being over 7$. In other words - I lost 1500$. But I'm still incredibly happy to be there and I don't really care about that loss. I invented nothing and still got something. That's what I love about steemit! ;)
Thanks for sharing that story, makes me feel less like an amateur knowing all of us seem to have stories like this.
I guess compared to where we're going this is all peanuts anyways ;)
