Option to have a variable withdrawal term

in #steem8 years ago (edited)

I think we should have to ability to determine the rate at which we want to power down. There should be an option for bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually, etc. for the 1% amount. Or they could reduce the rate of each payment. Instead of default 1%, the max could be 1% with the ability to pick 0.5% , 0.25% or 0.1% rate for the monthly amounts. This would give people the convenience of having their payment amounts be at a size and time schedule that they want without having to constantly power up and down.

Is the system complicated enough already? That is one of the top objections. Adding more options doesn't seem like the way to go imo.

Great post, I agree with you. I wouldn't want to empy my "saving accounts" all at once.
i think we could keep the maximum withdraw at 1%month, but let's make it possible to have smaller withdraw.
Something like a 6 week Power-down for upcoming travel, etc...

I actually just published a video about it here: https://steemit.com/inflation/@alexfortin/the-inflation-of-steem-explain-why-is-it-good-for-you
Let me know what you think :)

oh my fuck. Yes this!
I was honestly thinking about this today (if i ever decide to power down). I wouldnt want it all powered down. we need this to get this to the front page .

I never power down! Just up up!

Good idea! I'd like to have more options. I think people would still power up.

Powering down is not a absolute, you can start and stop it.

I disagree. Speaking generally, people, including me-- are total idiots about money. The current system forces one to squirrel away in a fairly ingenious manner.

At most the only withdraw at the current levels. This would make it possible for the payments to be smaller so those nuts can last even longer.

Good for the authors and good for the network, I think. That lets people stay in.

I think they thought about it and concluded that they had to make it 7 days, but if it's viable i'm all for it!

Current 7 days is the base in my idea. Any of the options you take would just make the payout take longer which just means the money will stay in the system longer which what we want anyway.

I like this idea but I also like the idea of the option to withdraw directly into Steem Dollars. Why would a person want to hold Steem as a result of powering down?
