I am completely blown away by all of this! First off it is great to even care about crypto. That's a new thing in my life since getting introduced to it through steemit. Secondly, that SBD is crazy right now, and recently blew a lot of people's expectations completely out of the water. Now, though, our precious STEEM is on the rise too!
TOPPING $4 USD ALREADY!!!
Check out that chart! What a rise! Honestly, I thought that we would be seeing a decrease in the value of STEEM as we approached the end of the year. It sure dropped by year end last year (down to about 10 cents) and after hovering between $1-$2 for most of the summer and fall, I wasn't sure what we'd see. Thankfully, we are seeing an amazing increase in value right now!
I just snapped this photo a minute ago. With BTC just over $17,000 USD on Bittrex, the 24 hour high for STEEM was $4.22 USD! If I remember correctly, the highest we ever hit, I think back in July of 2016, was about $4.40 or so. Please let me know if you have an actual number in the comments below.
Anyway, I think that if we saw another rise in BTC, STEEM could reach its all time high! How cool would that be. Also, if this trend continues, we could easily see $5 STEEM by year end.

I wonder if it has anything to do with folks getting a feeling that Steem is more reliable and stable than Bitcoin and Litecoin. Both of which have big names publicly state that they unloaded Bitcoin and Litecoin.

Yes, it’s been a crazy ride indeed, first with SBD and now Steem. But if and when Steem breaks the all time high, i think we’ll see $10 very quickly. Hold on for the ride. Can’t wait for ‘communities’ and SMTs to be implemented.

I am very happy to see this new bull cycle at the year end. Normally year end is linked with dumps but altcoins have started breaking out and I am hoping that steem will breakout big to reach even higher than $10

Oh, I am so happy that I have joined Steemit. I missed the low ranges of bitcoin and ethereum, I only "woke" up when they were both in the sky already. But first time in my life I feel that here on this platform I am at the right place at the right time. And what is even more important than the financial aspect: the good friends I could make over here. The social side of this story is what makes Steemit most precious and unique...

Who really knows where Steem could go, but I'd feel safe saying one thing, it may fluctuate, but I have no doubt it'll continue a steady climb. I wouldn't be surprised to see $10 in the very new future. Happy? Yes. Surprised? No.

The think I am most excited about STEEM is that more and more online stores are allowing us to buy with STEEM. Made a purchase last week and plan on making more in January. IT IS AWESOME!

Well, if BTC is actually worth about $20K....
i think its alot more than $3. Just based of of steemit alone and the value this site brings interms of knowledge and educating people from all around the world. It's value has to be in the hundreds... look at facebook which is a social networking site but it's not offering education and networking and growth like steemit, yet it's worth $177.Not to mention that it doesn't reward the users that make it what it is. I think steemit is way better though it has been around for a shorter time but eventually i think the price will rise to where it should be.

I think we can definitely break past the all time high. I am very sure we'll make it to $5 by January if not sooner. I absolutely love the increases in both STEEM and SBDs.

I did a post a while back about this. It is amazing. I was hoping to see 2 maybe 3 dollars for either Steem or SBD by years end. I have family back home in Dallas area that have been trading crypto for a while, and they are talking about getting into Steem/SBD, but, as far as I can see, they are looking at just buying and trading it. I have suggested that they start using Steem as their go-to social platform. I would love to work on a Steem platform that would make it more interactive and combine the great features of Facebook and YouTube without the censorship. I am a beginner programmer just getting my feet wet, but I would love to get something like that done. To build an infrastructure like with the blockchain tech lying underneath it all would be YUGE!!!

Being that Steem uses a social media type platform, I think it is very probably that it will start to rise above a lot of the other crypto, if not be one of the top 5- 10!
I think that we have so much more to offer in so many ways. Ever watch how long it takes BTC to do a transaction and compared it to steem?

Absolutely. Many of us have seen our account value drop in times past when the value decreased. It can happen.
I actually have to agree with the people here, in that this is a great Christmas "present" for most of us, especially for me since I needed to power down for some personal reasons, although it was such a hard thing to do for me. I've always considered STEEM to be my longest term holding, and trying to accumulate as much as possible.
My power down will end on the first week of February, at which time I will start accumulating again throughout the course of 2018, from as low as 50 STEEM power that I will have left on my account at that time.
It's been a great journey so far, and I cannot wait for February to come and start growing my STEEM power and get involved more with the community. I will try to be more active, and produce higher quality content, on a regular basis. Thank you @papa-pepper for being a community pillar here ever since I started on Steemit and to everyone who is apart of this awesome community. Happy holidays to everyone - time to share your profits and buy some nice presents for your loved ones!

What does everyone do with their SBD?
I think a lot of coins in general are really rising in value. i have been holding since April and i have observed the rise and fall of everything. I think this is a result of new money coming in and people being interested in crypto in general. I dont know how good are the new investors and i believe that when things get shaky some will be scared and sell so quickly. it will be interesting to see how people handle the next bearish market.

it's great that the developers curbed inflation to steem. That helps to stabilise and create a little bit of scarcity for SBD and steem. Unlike bitcoin, in my opinion, Steem has a superior due to its ability to handle transactions more efficiently. $5 by year end? No sweat. For all believers, just hodl.
Do you think if the number of users go high on steem is there a chance of steem value going more than or equivalent to Bitcoin / other crytocurrency ??

As of 10 min ago we just got a nice injection back into bitcoin and few other cryptos pushing our market cap now back up to $642 billion. We did have a pull back today of about 30-50 billion but look like that correction is over already. It's always wild to see how fast these corrections happen since we are trading world wide and 24/7 unlike stocks.

Great post! I'm not new to crypto but I am to steemit. I love the community and how I hardly ever see negativity in the comments! It's like a positive driven social media network! I hope to accumulate as much steem as possible and watch it skyrocket!
I think its great! I would love to see steem at 10 dollars but that may be asking too much. So I say 6 dollars :) Its crazy to see steem going high like this, lets hope this trend continues!
I sure believe it will only continue to rise until it gains mass popularity and Steemit overtakes the giant social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. Who wants to spend countless hours there and getting milked off your time when you can contribute on Steemit and get paid? It’s a no brainer and is the first truly revolutionary social media platform.
