A tame elephant named Bunta was found dead without one of the ivory. Bunta was found dead at the Conservation Response Unit (CRU) Serbajadi in Bunin Village, Serbajadi Sub-district, East Aceh.
Bunta's death is suspected of being poisoned by a person who is not responsible for his tusking. East Aceh Police Chief, AKBP Wahyu Kuncoro, said Bunta was found in a lifeless condition on Saturday (9/6) at 08.00 am.

At that time, Saifuddin, one of the members planned to move the elephant. But upon arrival the location, he saw Bunta is dead and one of the ivory lost.
"Knowing the incident, mahot or elephant guard who served in the CRU immediately informed the incident to the police for further investigation," said AKBP Wahyu when contacted on Saturday (9/6).

From the results of the investigation, officers saw the ivory taken by splitting and damaging the elephant's cheeks. The police are still hunting for the perpetrators.
Confirmed separately, Head of Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) Aceh, Sapto Aji Prabowo, regretted the incident. He deplored the perpetrators who could kill a tame elephant in a natural conservation site.
"Elephants that actually help the community overcome the conflict kok kanya-teganya killed," said Sapto.

The investigation team has been conducting the scene since the morning. The veterinarian team of BKSDA Aceh under police coordination has been deployed to examine the carcass of the poor elephant.
"Tonight just arrived in East Aceh. Tomorrow will coordinate with investigators regarding the steps needed to find out the cause of death and others, "Sapto concluded.
