Been looking at the Trending page these last few days and im seeing these posts that are attempting to fix the SBD peg....
First of all, it wont work, second of all, i dont care if they want to try.
Thats all fine and dandy but whats not fine and dandy is that these posts are taking up trending page spots.
We complained about the bots, justifiably, but wer ok with crap posts like this?
THESE POSTS NEED TO FUCK OFF FROM THE TRENDING PAGE!
Go upvote comments on a placeholder post if youre so keen to spend your votes that way.@sbdpotato and @burnpost, its "admirable" what youre trying to do but while youre doing it youre having a negative impact another way.
I know that STEEM has been slow lately, i know a lot of people left because the price is in the crapper and very close to the all time low but that still isnt an excuse to cover the trending page with junk.
Suddenly the trending page doesnt mean anything.
You aint going to fix the peg this way (though, youre free to try) but what you could do is give us quality posts to read everyday. Something we can be proud of showcasing on our frontends. You apparently have enough SP to trend a post.
Go follow @ocd or @curie with votes or something.
The best way to show everyone that steem is still live and kicking is to show off great content. People like to read great articles and seeing quality content lifts up their hopes for STEEM.

Needed to be said. Also, I hate to say it but what assurance do we have that the funds will be used as stated.
Anything less than 100% accountability / assurance is not enough for me. Perhaps, someone should program am audit of the potato.

I dont think it would be too hard to check the burn. They have conversions running in their wallets. Easily checked on Steempeak.
Im mostly concerned with them taking over the trending. Theres awesome stuff on Steem to read, articles, photography, music.
We dont need 5 shitposts about burning STEEM trending.
I just followed the trail to @sbd.bank. Not sure if they have some sort of profit sharing set up but it appears the sbdpotato funds are being used to sell delegations for a profit, apparently.

Trending is am issue for sure but I tend to be more focused on overall distribution of the reward pool and for what.

My thoughts too. Also, SBD aka Aggroed uses these posts to promote Steemvoter which is an autovoter services that in turn upvotes crap content and uses the peoples voting power kind of like the steemengineteam that was caught up in the botnet fiasco. In the end, these guys all benefit with the circle jerk curation. All of these votes could be going to supporting minnows and actually keep some retention which would fix STEEM Organically! They can't manipulate the market forfever and in the end they are making things worse.
That's just the thing. They could have at least put curated content (from whatever curation guild) in their ridiculous burn posts to showcase some of the stuff on the chain.
What's gonna happen is when they fall out of use like @steemengineteam, they are just gonna vote farm like it.
The only thing they have right now is that they are initiatives run by top witnesses, and we take their "words" for it.
...just not for themselves, that's the problem. The only way to fix the problem is to take away auto voter. Sure they can still vote all their bodies but they'll have to do it personally.
Autovoting can only be taken from those that can't write scripts,...

There should be a filter on Steemit front-end where you can filter the trending page according to your need like ignore some users, that might fix the issues for everyone.
You can mute them already but thats not the point. Its still there and others see it, especially those coming from the outside to check out Steem.
This needs to stop.
That's correct but muting is personal choice, I am saying the filter will be applied access and all the people will not able to see those posts from trending post. Witnesses can approve it and they can decide whom to put on that list

If only it was that simple. The problem is that others see it. I can not look at it but knowing that anyone coming here is seeing this crap makes me very concerned.

Yeah, the main problem is with people not logged in and who don't have accounts. It's the public face for what's available for content on steem.
I know right...lol. Sometimes when my feed is slow I think about going over on trending, then I realize I will find something that will just make my blood boil so I decide to go on another social media site instead.

Not necessarily, I hop around on different blog pages mostly on blogger through the Disqus platform. I blog on FB local news sites as that's how they set up their blogging platforms. They figure if people have to come out as who they are they are more likely to behave better....which from what I've seen is questionable. lol.

Maybe not the most insightful reaction but I went to Trending the other day after seeing someone say trending is nice or some shit and by the end of it the only thing I came away with is: Fuck SBD and fuck the peg.
If we dont make a conscious effort to fix this as a community then it simply wont work. Trending wont fix itself.
Yip that is why I make conscious decision that trending does not exist. Steempeak has their curation thingies they show as alternatives I guess that is something.
The most amazing part of it all is that they don't even bother to do simple math to reach a conclusion how this is useless...
