Facebook Scancal Aftermath: An opportunity for Steem?

What can stop Steem now?

You might ask yourselves what is Steem waiting before mass adoption support. After all, isn't it the perfect time now?

Regardless of Steem offering a quite different service in comparison with FB, truth is, the monster competitor is now weak.

What is stoping Steem from pursuing mass adoption?

In my honest opinion, some basic underlying infrastructure is still missing.

  • Steemit inc cannot currently delegate the initial 5 Steem to each of millions of new users without a proper verification process. Guess what, verification services are not free.

  • The main frontend is still lacking general public functionalities

  • A much bigger IT team would be required in order to prepare and scale both the servers and attend trouble-shooting. In the IT world, you cannot just create new teams within days or weeks, its a long process.

Sort:

one thing people will join steemit is because of anonymity of the information which is great to those who are concerned about their private info.

Millions of new users? Ha ha ha. The blockchain isn't big enough for all that garbage and the Pacific Ocean doesn't have any more room.

Well you know, with the right frontend we can always keep the garbage hidden under the bed.

True. But in the long term and over a period of time, Steemit should be able to stand out.
