Don´t get me wrong I´m very hyped with Steemit and so on, but there are some questions I need to clarify.
So, lets see, blockchain is independent and unregulated, cannot be hacked and all transactions/minning are safe.
Cool.
What about new coin distribution system? Last hardfork just proved (please correct me if im wrong) how much power devs have. Couple of clicks here, couple of lines of code there, they can literally change how does the whole system distributes the currency.
Some people might still stubbornly think "yes but the blockchain is decentralized". And I might answer, Who cares if blockchain is decentralized, as soon as there is "a man in the middle" the system becomes regulated.
On top, Poloniex can somehow regulate outflow of cash.
I do not have any reason to not to trust this project, I just like things clear (low BS tolerance, personal problem)
Discuss. Feel free to correct me.
EDIT: please resteem, we need more information

The devs cannot alone make these types of changes, it's up to the witnesses to approve and upgrade to the latest hardfork to approve and accept these changes.
The witnesses are an elected group of 20 individuals, voted in my the stakeholders. You could probably argue that's not decentralized enough, but it is decentralized.
The witnesses approved HF19 - so the changes went through.
twenty withnesses right?
The witnesses refused to accept the previous hard fork, until some changes were made.
Power is in the hands of those most able to make that power structure come into being. Freedom is not something that simply drops into our laps. It is something that is worked at. Those who do the work create the freedom first and foremost for themselves. If others want to create a freedom of their own flavor, it is dependent on them expending the energy to bring that reality into being.
The developers and investors in Steem are building a vision of a decentralized future for themselves. There right to do so exists in these individuals ability collectively contribute to its creation. For those who have little or nothing to contribute, their freedom is in the hands of others. Essentially, we all hold our destinies in our hands, so pursuing that destiny is linked directly to the personal responsibility taken to bring that into fruition.
Interesting perspective
Agree but doesnt justify marketing something it isnt (did steemit market itself as unregulated?)
Wow. I wish I could resteem this.
I had a similar thought today, with everybody's posting history, earnings and wallet being public, maybe this is the globalization of humanity, we are now the borg? Is resistance futile?
You've been upvoted, followed and resteemed!
Do you watch Dr. Kaku
Can't say that I do... What does he have to say about it?
Resteemed - thanks for asking the question that many of us were wondering about.
good points for sure ..interesting to say the least
Your submission upon analysis makes a perfect sense but the decentralisation is real. Lets fo a quick analysis. Steem is independent off steemit. Steem is the currency that is not regulated. Steemit is like a mining hub. Even when you buy a mining rig, at a point in time that mining rig wont be able to mine a the coin when there is development. Does that mean the coin is regulated. I will leave you to ponder over it
"Steem is independent off steemit. Steem is the currency that is not regulated"
Of course, steemit is not even a currency :) Steemit has power over who does mine (withnesses), and also about HOW does wealth distribute (the fact they can change this proves my point)
The fact is it doesn't matter if Blockchain is decentralized or not. They have to show up to your house with guns. The more people who are partaking in the blockchain economy the safer worlds like steamit will be. This is why I am surprised their isn't a reward for getting more people involved or at least not that I am aware of.
Thanks for asking this and let's hope we get a response so we know where we are.
