I'm Writing a Steem eBook and Need Your Input

in #steem6 years ago

Hey friend! I have some exciting news for you :) I am currently in the beginning stages of writing a Steem eBook and need your input.

I want to hear your thoughts, your questions, and your ideas regarding topics for this new book. Back in March of this year I released a cryptocurrency book called Coin Wise - Bitcoin Edition and people have gained a lot of value from reading it.

What I want to do is replicate that type of education, but do it in the form of Steem. I would call the book Coin Wise - Steem Edition, as it would be the 2nd book in the series. Since I have an extreme interest in cryptocurrency and find it fascinating, I want to share that passion with the world. What better way then publishing on Amazon.com?

Some of my topic ideas already include the following:

  • What is Steem?
  • What is the blockchain capable of?
  • How to acquire Steem tokens
  • How to produce high-level content
  • Earning rewards
  • Growing a following

Those are some ideas I've been throwing around and that may change as the book progresses. As of right now, I am planning on taking roughly 6-12 months to complete this book and publish it on Amazon as an eBook and paperback. I am considering publishing on other sites as well such as Goodreads and Smashwords.

What I'd like to do is mention you inside this book! Yes, you! I am dedicating this book to the Steem community and I want to give back. This community has turned my life around I want to return the favor in the form of education and also by mentioning users who contribute to the book's success.

With that said, if you would like to be considered for a mention / shout out in this book, please leave a thoughtful comment below in regards to your topic ideas for this book. Also, please resteem this post so that the entire community can get a chance to contribute to the success of this project.

I love you friend and I appreciate your support. Until next time, as always, remember... You Are Awesome!

Take care.

What are the pros and cons on voting-bots? How do witnesses work? If we don't agree on the current way on how things are on steemit, how can we influence it as a community (for example voting-bots and witnesses)? mention me @patrickczu :-)

These are fantastic topics @patrickczu! Appreciate your input and I will mention you for sure!

I'm happy to see that you are writing another book. I didn't know you already wrote one but it makes sense, the material you publish is good!

P.S. I don't have any ideas for your book at this time but I will follow your progress.

Thank you for being a loyal follower @chrisrice. If you have any ideas down the line let me know :)

-Ken

You're welcome @kenmelendez That might be a good topic to include, since one of my strategies for gaining loyal followers is to be a loyal follower myself. And I am willing to follow people who are new and don't have a following yet (you already do). I think that is what Steemit is all about - supporting people we want to support and then acquiring that same support for ourselves!

You might want to also review a post written by @ayerz He is one of the people I follow manually since I like his personal posts:

https://steemit.com/steembulls/@ayerz/3-worst-strategies-on-steemit-you-should-not-imitate

It might be good to have a section titled: Advanced... toward the end of the book and cover advanced techniques used on the Steem blockchain like leasing Steem Power from @minnowbooster, sponsoring people with @steembasicincome or participating in contests like @yoo1900

You can also include "boosting" posts with services like @appreciator

I haven't used any of those techniques except the contests one. If you can cover those aspects of Steem thoroughly it will probably help a lot of people! @kenmelendez

P.S. I haven't sponsored anyone yet but I was sponsored by @mirriek for @steembasicincome

Hey ken ! Nice to hear that you are writing this book and you want our input for it!

My suggestions after resteeming your post:

  • the immense power of delegation
  • how does the possibility of voting influences the quality of content and comments
  • aspects and chances of autovoting / curation trails

These where the first 3 ideas came into my head. I would be pleased if you could write something about them.

Please keep us informed about things related to this book and how we can help you more with it !

Peace !

These are awesome @tibfox. Thank you for your input. I will be working on elaborating on these topics in the book :)

-Ken

That's pretty nice :) I hope the writing will flow and you have fun while the progress of creating this book my friend !

Glad that I could have helped you :)
Peace

Excellent idea, I think the content you have in mind so great.

Honestly I would buy the book, I'm relatively new in the community and I'm sure that finding content in this way favored growth and development within the platform.

I will be aware of your next publications, although I do not have a specific idea about the content at this moment; I think it would be a good idea to have your book in English and Spanish language versions since both communities are the largest. This way you would get more buyers for your book.

I wish you much success!
Greetings and hugs

Hi @yeni16...welcome to the incredible Steem community. Glad you are here!
I never thought of that before...putting the book in English and in Spanish. Great idea! Appreciate your input :)

-Ken

Sounds like you're covering all the important topics everyone should know. My idea would be for those that have never really blogged before. "How to Pick a Niche". Maybe you're already including that in the How to Produce High-Level Content portion.

All the best with the book.

That sounds great @daveonarrival. Picking a niche is one of the key components to long-term success on Steem. Thanks!!

-Ken

I might have an idea for your book Ken. The fluctuations of value and how to make this an encouragement rather than a discouraging factor. Someone who throws a hundred dollars in could see it fold 13 times like STEEM was last year in August. This STEEM edition potenitally could offer several times more growth than Bitcoin. Isn't everyone banking on the obvious prediction of STEEM going to the moon. I read one article how STEEM could reach one hundred dollars. OH DARN! Wouldn't that be something awesome! Resteeming for you @kenmelendez!

Not sure whether this is you, Jack, or your Dad, but I really like these topics. So very much appreciate them and will add them to my list. Appreciate the input!

-Ken

Great initiative ken. I love the topics
I just to add like the impact of Steemit to the users
How does Steemit help user grow individually, financially and even help them engage to the community worldwide

Right on @zam398! Those are worthy topics of being added to the book. Thank you for that input!

-Ken

That was a great initiative you have taken. I just want to add some of the topics like.

... The benefits of building a community.
... How long can you commit before making a full time
... The drawbacks of spamming posts.

Hi there @jacksonchakma and thank you for these topics. I will add these to my list of topics. Cheers!

-Ken

@kenmelendez would be also discussing about how to be a good writer, i am thinking about writing skills quite a bit recently and don't to know how to present an ordinary story in an interesting way or make a full blog on a small news..

please share your thought about improving writing skills

How to be a good writer? Absolutely YES. I am excited to teach on that topic. Appreciate your input @learnersglobe

-Ken

Ebook steem, it sounds interesting, I like it, make it soon, I'll be glad to read it

Do a chapter on downvoting, flags and the reputation system. There is definitely a lot confusion about that one.

As for channels, Smashwords is amazing, Goodreads isn't a publishing option though, just a place for listing reviewing and discussing books. You should probably add Play Books to the list as apart from Amazon, that is one of the major channels that Smashwords currently misses out on.

You might also want to consider making Steemit itself into a channel for your book in an online version. There is a bit of a logistics issue with linking that makes it essential to do everything in one week, what is kinda inconvenient. I did something like that using 'declined payout' reposts (of edited content) instead.
I won't link in this post as not to get flagged for spamming, but you can find the link on my profile if you are interested to see how it could be structured.
