Ned's upvotes used to be worth $1000+. Not anymore?

in #steem8 years ago (edited)

I just came across this post by @furion: "How I got 'hacked', recovered my accounts and improved the Steemit account security."

Ned upvoted it, and it's only earned about $247. A Ned upvote used to be worth ~$1000 --what happened? Did the algorithm that determines payouts change?

Two things have happened - the price of steem has fallen sharply, which means votes arn't worth as much (as they are based on Steem Power, which in turn is based on the value of steem. And secondly, if a member votes a lot within a 12 hour period, his "juice" is distributed evenly amongst them all. So Ned might have been on a voting spree.

I think it is couse he has voted manny, so the amount he gives in vote get lover when less voting power.

wierd :S

You god, $0.20 from me with power of power:)

There was a new feature announced recently where those with high steem power can choose a percentage of their power to vote with. Could have something to do with it as well.

Perhaps Ned had been over using his Votes or perhaps he has far less SP now.

It's likely that he's partially voting because he knows his vote carries so much weight.

On steemit.com you always vote 100% (although there have been rumours of this changing). With the command line tool, however, you can specify how much you want your vote to be worth.

So if he's voting $247 that's about 25%.
