STOP! IMPORTANT information about Steemit. This we all need to know.

in #steem7 years ago

I have just found something out which most of you may already ready know? Unless you are new to Steemit? what is bandwidth? here on Steemit. Many people come across this problem in the beginning of their Steemit journey. It can be a very frustrating experience. Most new users do not know until a pop up appears saying: 'Bandwidth limit exceeded, wait to transact or power up'. This happens to bloggers who comment to often and post without any care because they are eager to get involved, so they continue to comment, resteem, upvote and follow. Steemit is not the same as other social platforms. Is is created on the blockchain.

First question, What is bandwidth?

Simply bandwidth is Information carrying capacity. Bandwidth is the limit of data you can send or receive in a network (in this case the network is Steemit) . Here on Steemit we all have bandwidth and it is possible for your or indeed I to run out of bandwidth. When you reach your bandwidth limit, you will not be able to post, comment or upvote on steemit for a select period of time. When ever you earn a reward you get a certain share in the blockchain of Steemit that will increase your bandwidth.

There are some ways to avoid this problem.

The quality of your content is very important. Try not to post with little quality and that has poor content hoping to be rewarded.

Post regularly, Steemit is a blockchain based network, new blocks are being mined constantly, when ever a new block mined you lose your bandwidth that you had in the last block. By posting often you are able to get rewarded and to gain shares in every new block created.

Commenting to much can be a problem.

For those of you that are new to Steemit try not to comment to much. Your have a low bandwidth and before long you will be unable to post until your bandwidth increases again. Comment whenever you have something of quality to say. Poor comments like follow me, follow you! Will in turn have a negative affect. As I have learned myself.

Resteeming.

While resteeming can benifit, if you vote on a post and resteem it and it gets noticed seen by more people who upvote, you will be rewarded with a curation reward but this can also negatively effect your bandwidth.

Editing.

Try not to edit comments or posts. Once your comment or post has been written, think, read and reflect! Simple errors can affect your bandwidth.

Checking bandwidth and voting power.

Use SteemD.com to to check how much voting power and bandwidth you have. To do this put http://steemd.com/ followed by your user name. Example ( http://steemd.com/@jasonvme). This will show your statistics, including previous information about yourSteemit account.
