Why Steemits "New Tab" Is NOT SCALABLE

in #steem7 years ago (edited)

If Steemit was the size of Reddit tomorrow this site could not function. Imagine if Reddit had a "New" tab similar to Steemits "New" tab. You would get 100's of post per minute and the unnecessary congestion in my opinion just needs to stop. The site is becoming slow af...And I think this tab is a contributing factor. If people want to go and find new content we should have a search engine that give the option to show the most recent post with specific tabs ....but to have it streaming like it is is just ridiculous. IT IS NOT SCALABLE. IF TWITTER OR FACEBOOK OR ANYTHING HAD THIS TAB THE WEBSITE WOULD EXPLODE PERIOD END OF STORY GOOD NIGHT SEE YA. PEACE.

I totaly aggree with you.
I'm not a seasoned steemer, although I have been lurking around for a couple of months now.

I see a promising concept behind the platform but I do also see a plethora of things which I think need to change to bring this platform to a mainstream audience.

Personally, yesterday I made the plunge to make my first post on here in an attempt to better my writing skills, deciding to start a little series through my blogroll. I watched this post dissapear of the cryptocurrency page (as my leading tag) and also off the new posts page, within seconds.

I'm very green as a content creator and have little steem power and have not built any following, but I feel with the speed at which posts like mine disappear into oblivion is going to make it extremely difficult for new authors to get exposure to their content.

I am also starting to notice some high level accounts on Steem, which in the past have posted great content, which no doubt got them to where they are today, are posting rubbish content/articles and getting a huge response from the community.

Will be interesting to see how things play out, I will certainly stick around and hopefully enjoy the ride.

Appreciate your insight thank you!

Agreed, I think you should have to choose a specific tag first for the New button to appear. So you only see the new post under blog or steem etc.

Thank you! Its so true we need this to end!!

Totaly agree. There is too many posts and its all jumbled in one section. I said b4 that there should be more tabs. Even rep tabs something like 25-35 35-50 50--65 65+ reps There isnt enough organisation for new users and authors to get their content the valuable exposure.

Yes we will need more specified categories as well at some point. Just some sort of filter to reduce and over-flowing feed.

Thanks @jacobcards for my vote.
As we were writing and commenting about steemits lack of transparency and having a more operatable UI the very next day we get a new interface and also tag selection
I actually like this new interface which may explain why steemit was having such a bad 2weeks+ , yet I myself experienced Network Error, Transaction Error yesterday as I submitted my post. I kept getting same error msg so I left it & came back to it this morning to try again, to my horror my post was submitted 3 times so I had to edit out the txt on the extra 2 posts to try stop any upvotes. I couldn't delete my post which is frustrating because I had no upvotes or comments but when I edited out the txt & explained why there was 3 post the same I started receiving votes. Anyways I left a link to my original post which was actually submitted 6 hours ago when I was receiving that network error msg. So although we have a new look and some new selections on the platform the steemit devs still have to tweak sections like what I experienced yesterday. It as spamming my post which is NOT COOL for myself & other Users.

Is Steemit scalable as a whole? - a million dollars question after the last two weeks. Today I don't even know what to hope for...

More users? Not so many users?

Is it normal for a beta? If it's normal, how bad it may become? Much worst then now?

Invite friends here? Do not invite? Wait? If wait, how long?

Need for a COMPREHENSIVE explanation from Steemit's devs is very real I think...

The lack of communication has been poor. I have confidence in the long term vision, but right now they do need some help from the community. If they just listened to us they'ed freaking be doing excellent right now.

good jobb. Upvoted!

please check my last post and upvote it if you have 2min, I think you will find value in it. Cheers:)

their should be some new UI changes
