Hi, Steemers!
I am a developer who is doing works related to machine learning, searching/recommendation by AI in a company. Haven’t you had any difficulties when you finding some postings that you’re interested in Steemit? I’m going to introduce a project to solve these problems and explain contents that I’ve worked.

Interesteem is a project whose goal is to promote various and abundant contents consumption by automatically recommending related contents that might be draw attention of user, using deep learning. In v1, it recommends related steemit contents in the comments automatically when you post with hash tag: #interesteem.

How it will be working? I’ve chosen some samples among my works.

[How to use Interesteem]

  1. Put hash tag #interesteem when you post.
  2. Wait for a while. With a certain period, it recommends postings that might be more clicked by people, being related with some of your postings that the interesteem bot had left comments below.

[Why is Interesteem that necessary?]

1. You can find more ‘golden contents’ that were hidden in steemit. (Positive for the readers)

While doing project, I’ve checked various contents that exist in steemit. There were more interesting and awesome contents than I’ve thought. But they cannot be found as time goes by unless you search them by targeting personally or like my case, check the data with particular purpose. How would it be to show some golden contents when the readers are reading their postings? In their side, it would be much more helpful to be exposed interesting postings by a kind of categorizing.

2. You can get more paid in maximum in the payout period. (Positive for the writers)

In steemit, you cannot get paid after certain period. That is, you should expose your postings to make them get consumed as much as possible.
Interesteem recommends every content related, but it will show postings which were uploaded through Interesteem and which are in limited period in priority. Your postings will be shown to more people with others’ related ones.

3. It might indirectly solve steemit’s several problems that has been called into question in some communities currently.

I understand that there are some issues related to the curation on the streamit platform, such as voting bot. In a way, it can be considered that they can vitalize the platform’s economy, however on the other hand, it is reasonable opinion that it harms curation’s nature and it should be improved to be exposed only by money. If people don’t use the trending taps with abusing, and use the organized and detailed curations, its usability will grow, and people’s satisfaction will get higher, and even some of problems will be solved.

4. You can maximize the profit by eternal writer reward based on future hits.

As the twenty or thirty-year-old great movies are still loved, I think some contents with spirit also should be loved and rewarded after time has passed. What I like to do with this interesteem project is to make communities using SMT and to consume contents that doesn’t run out of time through curation, thereby making steamit-based-platform that rewards the writers continuously and eternally.

Future plan

  • v1 Development – Completed
  • v2 Development – Developing interesteem website
  • v3 Development – Developing eternal writer reward system based on interesteem

Finish ( feat. I think the curation based on voting has failed. )

It can be very drastic. Surely, I agree that it is enough to make great curation through voting. However, when it demands monetary cost, we have no choice but to seek other things rather than the contents. Moreover, there are also limits because curation by ‘human beings’ has limited resources. Most users excluding heavy users of the platform, just can write very superficially, checking small part of steamit’s vast contents. I think it’s better the AI to select some curations to some degree and the person to manage them, rather than the person to curate EVERY step.

Leave trivialities to AI.

Thank you.

I know you're not a manual curation service, but your program is an idea I had months ago, so happy to support it and see it develop.

Very cool post! Thanks for taking the time to put this all together.

Wow this is exactly what I need since I’m a big reader and researcher. I’ve been in need of the Tool since beginning

Interesting initiative, I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks @stellabelle for sharing.

You’re welcome. I’ll test it out to see how it works. Seems interesting

Very good and needed project for the steem community. I'm just wondering how your AI probably could be trained to find related articles that are interesting and at the same time undiscovered and still not older than 7days so people can vote on them. That would be a great boost for all small users and under the radar content.

Posted using Partiko Android

Very simple. Interesteem finds related articles in all periods, and then selects the articles within seven days. We do not train relevance and duration together.

How many minutes do we have to wait? I’m not sure if it works if I post from DLive? I used tags in it

Posted using Partiko iOS

You need to wait an hour.

It's okay to use it in DLive post. However, there is a possibility that the recommendation result is not good. Because the information Interesteem can access is very limited, so it only looks at the content of the article and find relevent articles. There may be limitations when there are not enough text in the post. Thanks!

Ah ok I need to write more in the posts for it to work better, thanks

Where I first saw the headings, Unpaid related articles and Related articles; I assumed this meant the unpaid articles hadn't paid to be in your list, while the related articles presumably had.
Not sure if this is a common misunderstanding.
Recent related articles / Older related articles might be a better wording?

Good point. I also think the words can cause confusion, so I will change the words as you suggest. Thank you.

Hmmm... Maybe I should do this next time. Seems interesting.
