Men cannot do without clothing. Adam and Eve started clothing by using fig leaves to cover their nakedness after they sinned against God.
In the olden days animal skins were used to make cloths. As ages passes by, materials used for making cloths changes.
"cloths are made from many different materials. These days some of them are made of man-made(synthetic) fibres".
In Nigeria several materials are used for clothing but the commonest one is cotton.
I could remember in my primary school days, there are alot of cotton plants in my school environment. We usually remove the cotton from the plant and use it to clean our ears. Little did we know that the same cotton is used to make our cloths.
"The biggest producer of cotton in Africa is Sudan, but the most important West African cotton-producing area is parts of northern Nigeria". However, we also have alot of it in the western part of Nigeria, where I came from.
In conclusion, the cotton plant is a gift from God for Nigeria people as we are able to make our cloths from it. Cotton is also used for making cotton bud to clean our ears.
Growing of cotton plants never stop in Nigeria because of it's benefit.
