I think part of it is that a high price helps remind you to pay attention. I have not checked in on steem for a little while, and was curious over the SBD thing (I barely have any! I turned all my SBD into regular Steem previously).

For sure though, people let price dictate emotions entirely too much. Very hard to watch money turn into less money and be optimistic about it for many.
