One the one hand, this is great, and in the long run a boon. On the other hand, for me as a newcomer, it sucks rocks. Let me explain:
When I joined this thing, I was looking for a platform free of censorship, to speek out politically. (I wrote a quick explanation about the German censorship issue in English, in my newest blog post.) I found it here on Steemit.
The entire "make money by posting"-thing was entirely irrelevant to my motivation to join up. I looked at it and thought of it as a scam, more or less. Hell, this entire crypto-bitcoin-thingy is a scam, right? Honestly, a few short months ago, I would have NEVER considered to invest even a rusty penny of my own money. I'm not rich, but I managed to squirrel away enough to start retirement before 60. I still take jobs, but only if I really, really like them. Sweet freedom. Can't jeopardize that...
It took me quite a while to realize, the Steem blockchain and its concepts are for real. The community is for real. Nice people, who take me the way I am, and who were very helpful to get me started. By comparison to Facebook, this was a wonderful experience. Yet, a society where capitalism reigns almost supreme. Offer something of value, get rewarded. Offer sh.t, get sh.t - perfect! What a great social experiment!
So, I'm slowly gaining confidence in the way things are working. Curie discovers one of my videos - boom! - through the roof. Can this be? Along comes a spike in the SBD-value against the U.S. Dollar. 3 bucks to 1 SBD - oh boy! I had barely begun to taste the first success, and now I had to try to convert some SBD. I mean, HAD TO! Quickly, quickly!!! Before it takes a dump again... So I actually transfered about 500 bucks worth of SBD to my checking account. Worked like a charm. Steemit is for real. Check!
Long story short, I had my fun, became a believer, and now I would LOVE to put the money and a little something extra back into the blockchain. I have been waiting for a good dip, except, IT AIN'T COMING! What really hurts is, a generous soul had delegated a few hundred SP to me for a time, to teach me the value of SP and curation. They're gone, I feel like a cripple, the timing to buy SP is all wrong, and it only trickles off my posts on account of the price.
Steem to the moon? A double-edged sword. Through my bleeding heart.

as for whoever has given you SP he must have seen something positive
yes, we'll let you be as you are here of course
but if you could stay on the positive side of posting and that means no negative news
many people are here and they don't really like hearing news
most of those are making you feel bad and think bad about the society or the world but it's not so
so if you could get back and focus on the beautiful things you've shown us before you know which of your posts are highly appreciated I'd stick to that kind of posting if I were you - positive ;)
of course its still your prerogative but don't be surprise if not many people would join your table

"focus on the beautiful things" --- Yes, I would very, very much prefer that, and perhaps I can one day. For the time being, I'm attempting to strike a balance. Not having too much luck with it, but that's just the way I am. Can't hide it, and it wouldn't be right to do so. Money isn't everything.
I feel that with Germany and Europe, many things are wrong politically. We don't need to rehash that, and you may even have a different opinion on the way things are. I can respect anybody's opinion with no problem, and get in hot debates if need be.
What I cannot respect is politicians breaking the law, in a blatant and patently obvious fashion, and dissenters like myself are being shut up by painting them as Nazis, racists, populists, and whatnot. Media that are failing as the fourth power and are reporting biased like never before.
What really kills it is downright censorship, which is happening right now in Germany.
Somebody needs to complain. THIS is not the political process of democracy and fairness I was taught! I'm old enough to have seen and enjoyed a different Europe, where people lived as friends and partners in sovereign nations, and I WANT THAT BACK. They can't shut me up here. And if I ever should cross a line, I'm sure the flagging orgy will be swift and terrible ;-) I just can't ignore what's going on around me. Sometimes I wish I could.
I will not bore you by going into this deeper. You've seen my posts. You are a beautiful soul, and I enjoy reading your stories and the cute flower doodles and things. They calm me down, keep my anger at bay and I wish I could upvote the living daylights out of them (one day), but I got to leave some SP for others. Thank you for listening, and thank you for upvoting the the things you like, and ignoring the ones you don't.

happens to everyone some dont up you even if you up their posts prepare yourself for those who do that hahah
in my experience complaining doesn't do anything
and we don't have to treat each other like enemies to make a point
I've witnessed how creative you can be
use the same creativity to struck a change and YOU CAN!
but first start within yourself
don't risk on putting yourself into any harm
specially ones you can't control
its not worth it
the many of us stay away from them news because they stir anger
its not good for you heart
so take some water after posting hihihi
Find your creative posting self.. you have it .. it's just waiting to be unleashed
you can make your point without leaving heavy impact ;)
