There is still a lot of confusion about how rewards are generated in Steemit, so I decided to add a special section to steem.supply, in which not only I explain - to the best of my knowledge - how things work, but also give a few interactive tools for you to test this.
As you can see from the screenshot above, you can see how much SBD, Steem Power and USD you get for a hypothetical post with $10 rewards displayed in Steemit (or 10 STU, as I call them).
You can then slide the values of SBD and STEEM and see which parts of your rewards are changing and how much. If you want to restore the values to the actual market prices, just hit that button below the table, and they will reset.
Also, there is a moderately long piece of theoretical text, based loosely on this post.
As always, looking forward to your feedback, criticism and suggestions.

that is a great an useful update
Lately I have been accessing steemit.com along with steem.supply. Makes it easier for me to understand what's confusing on the first. Yeah, they should lose the $. It's quite deceiving.
Thanks @dragosroua for coming up with another cool feature on steem.supply
A little contribution for a well respected invention and it starting to grow exposure.

Steemit needs to loose the $ sign.
It's caused no end of aggravation and confusion.
Great addition! I really like all the new features and calculations being added to Steem.supply as I use it quite a lot :)
Great update, thank :D, i play now with it
Thanks again for this update. Steem.supply for me is the best tool to help me calculate my future rewards.
Thank you for developing another wonderful feature. I'll definitely use it in the future.
This is definitely a cool tool to add and you calling the reward balance that we see "STU" makes it make more sense. A lot of people on here wouldn't be as confused if they read through your writeup there.
Great work. This looks extremely informative. Interactive tools are definitely one of the best ways for myself to learn, so I'm sure this will clear things up for many people. I personally browse my own account on steam.supply quite frequently. I find it very useful. Thanks for the hard work.
Muchas gracias por el aporte, amigo hay algún problema si traduzco la información al español? claro colocando los respectivos creditos y agregando mi toque original.
Por favor :) Gracias!
thx again for another nice feature
my pleasure, glad it's useful :)
Rewards calculation is the most confused and ambiguous thing for me but thanks you made my confusions clear to great extent. Thanks @dragosroua
Thanx drago.. I just came to know that you are the man behind supply efforts.. Thanx for your efforts.. It ll be useful for us.. As you said it always confused ppl
There must be some other character in unicode to be found for this "$".
Maybe use an emoji instead of "$"?

Brilliant ! Now that's what I'm talkin' about !!

calculates my vote weight incorrectly... says it's .50 ish when steemnow gives the accurate $2.15 for 100% upvote.
just figured you'd like to know (checking it out to include in an epic list of steem tools apps and resources)
The voting power is calculated in STU, not in USD, will change that, thanks for the heads up!
yes, and my 100% upvote is currently worth 2.15 in STU
After deducting 25% from the total amount, let's say the remaining is $75. 50% of that is SBD so it will be 37.5 USD. Now for SP, divide 37.5 with the current price of STEEM. That is SP for this post.
wrong: it will be 37.5 * SBD price, not 37.5 USD.
Oh yeah, it should have been that way. That was for sure an editing mistake. Thanks for the correction.
Bookmarked & resteemed!
Brilliant work!
thanks for sharing this. its a very good thing and the more people come in the more the value of steem increases so its a fancy thing.
Thank you for constantly updating, I use steem.supply every single day.
Nice man. Your poat is an asset as well as an active revenue to the reader steemer
Thanks for the helpful post.. 👍
very informative this update i apricate...
carry on.
extraordinary, very important explanation
Great. I will definitely try ;-)
Does your rewards calculator factor in the diminishing returns for minnows who keep having the delegated SP lowered because we have ran into the threshold of the @steem wallet? I expect that with current demand in new user accounts that we have less than 22k accounts before the delegated amount to minnows is halved again.
https://steemit.com/witness/@royaleagle/delegated-steem-to-new-minnows-fell-from-30sp-to-15sp-why
it has nothing to do with that, it's a general rewards calculator
On january 8 the delegated amounts to anyone who had less than 30 steem power in their accounts changed! Before January 8 if you had less than 30 SP in your wallet the @steem account delegated you enough to make your SP = 30. Jan 8 and after that rule halved, so anyone that had less than 15 SP in their account had the @steem account delegate enough to have 15 SP. I had friends that voted with 30SP delegated to them before Jan 8. They checked the rewards in your calculator which said they should get a reward but whe the reward time finally showed up they received nothing because poor planktons delegated SP was halved.
I didn't know anything about that. Will try to reproduce this issue and see what I find. If you have accounts in this situation, it will help to send me some to test.
I explained it with block locations a little more in this post, if you want to see what i mean. https://steemit.com/witness/@royaleagle/delegated-steem-to-new-minnows-fell-from-30sp-to-15sp-why
I also really appreciate your work on this project. I check mine multiple times a day. It would be cool to have 2 more tabs that count back up to 7 days for both comments and posts so we can check to see if they have cleared.
thanks for the tips good explanation
keep on steeming

Im glad I came across your posts thanks once more!
I think it will be better to do away with this dollar sign as it is causing a whole lots of confusion, @dragosroua it would be better if steemit can adopts its own sign or unit for the STU instead of the confusing dollar sign its using.
interesting now the site is looking more interesting with these changes
Hello @dragosroua! I have just recently discovered and have been using steem suppy and am loving it!! I have one feature request... it would be nice to have some date options for the social insights...
