As an investor in the stock market I am forced to do this using fiat currencies. I would LOVE to do this using cryptocurrencies and bypassing any broker. One of the biggest fears I have as in investor is that if a real market crash occurs, economies world wide crash and banks need to be bailed in, they will confiscate everyone's profits. If people could just make trades in cryptocurrencies and immediately send their profits to their wallets after selling their assets, governments can't confiscate the money you earned by being a smart investor and brave enough to take risks.
This is just an idea that I am having. If anyone thinks this is feasible, please let me now.

If bitshares took their marketing as seriously as their functionality, bitshares would cement itself as the crypto leader for the masses.
So you can buy for example stocks from tesla on BitShares ?
Once we convinced them to sell there shares on that platform, you could. It's nothing different then NYSE, just without the central point of failure in NY :)
It's not that easy in case of stocks like Tesla. At the moment you have some UIAs from third parties there that represent real-world commodities or also Shares in decentralised Enterprises. And you have so called Smartcoins. Look it up here:

There are several issues to be resolved but the technology is there and in the case of bitshares it's quite an elaborate one (using the same Base-Technology like Steem) even though there are other projects trying to establish a decantralised Exchange.
