Imgur.com blocking steemit.com hotlinks to images

in #steem9 years ago

Apparently it is against their terms of service, so please find a different solution.

We will be working on our own solution to this problem, but for now you can avoid this problem by using a different means of hosting images.

Sort:

go to the image you used on imgur.com then you can right click on the image and do a google search for the same image.

We need the IPFS integration to store anything decentralized asap.

I took this photo of Rodrigo Crespo (left) and Chris Hering (right) of BitShares Munich at the Blockchain Innovation Awards in Berlin yesterday :) ...via IPFS:

ECHO's hansome CEO and indoorsman CMO?

Storj may be even better because Storj has a coin and Dan knows Shawn. In any case, imgur can't even compete with the technologies about to come online.

any suggestions/advises for Imgur.com replacement?

flickr.com maybe?

I can say for certain that flickr works. You just have to dig a bit in the code to find src= ______________ with the underline being the code you need to copy and paste.

Easy to use and it doesn't need an account !!!

After Imgur started censoring images because of the "Fat People Hate" drama on reddit , http://sli.mg/ was set up as an alternative.

Even with https://www.blogger.com/ we can host pictures

Totally steems unreasonable.

How are they able to block the https:// images? I thought no referrer was sent when using https.

That's good to know. It's not the only place that offers such a service, though it's the most widely used one.

That's all I need now, they are hosting the image I use in my only post with nice upvotes on it, so far it seems the block has missed me, who knows maybe I am just seeing an image in my browser cache. Anyway all that is not important, what is the terms of service this goes against exactly?

Photobucket works for me, for years

Well, that is weird, because that should be their business mode: being
linked from other social media networks..

Perhaps they'll be happy if you host a script provided by them, then there'll be links with more info (e.g. indicates the picture is from their site).

I'm reuploading my images to https://www.vidble.com/

The problem with vidble.com is that it seems you can't upload by simply supplying a URL to a file. You have to save the file to your computer and then upload from there (which then requires browsing for the file), and that's much more of a pain in the neck compared to simply copying and pasting the URL of the original image and clicking upload. Also, it appears you need to have an account with vidble.com in order to upload images. For these reasons, I am going with https://imgsafe.org/.

@dantheman, can you please confirm that we won't lose earnings by editing our posts to update the image links? Thanks.

Until IPFS will be integrated we can use http://pasteboard.co instead http://imgur.com

You can use either Storj or IPFS. Contact Shawn.

would be amazing if you could implement photo storage / video storage into the steemit blockchain...game changing.
