In the world of steemit getting as many eyeballs on your content is the quickest way to grow your circle and or community. This can be a tricky process it can either require extreme luck, generosity of others, or a considerable fiat investment into the platform. Another way when done correctly is the use of Resteem bots.
I personally have no issue with the use of resteem bots to help your content get a leg up, but I am here to warn you 95% are sheer trash and will net you nothing in terms of viewership. Take this one for example @best10
Going through the Follower list quickly reveals that this resteemer is just resteeming to a bunch of inactive dummy accounts. So essentially you have just paid to broadcast to a bunch of bots that will neither interact or follow
My advise when choosing a bot to resteem your post, go through that bots account and see who actually follows it. You will quickly turn around and run.
Tbh I am not even sure if the legit resteemaccounts are worth it.
I never tried it though but I assume they got their followers through follow4 follow which just creates as useless following who get bombared with resteems in addition to their full feed
Sometimes a bit more exposure does help when you are getting started. So they are not completely useless, It just most are just TRASH to begin with.
I'm new here and to be completely honest I'm starting to see a few issues with a Platform that seeks to place a financial incentive for social interactions. It seems to be at least, that a lot of the conversations on here seems as if they are happening explicitly and exclusively for the purpose of generating interested in a channel/making £.
Am I totally off base here? I see you post quite a lot so I'm assuming you know your stuff haha
You are absolutely on the right track. It gets frustrating on here at times because so many interaction are solely based on the hopes of getting an upvote.
Hey again, so I've had some time to use this platform a bit more since my last post and I do honestly like it, but I'm not sure if that is misplaced. There are a few 'good characters' on here that want a real conversation but they exist en-mass in every other type of forum or chat board. Reddit is essentially a platform for 250,000,000 of them.
I'm kind of sick of people commenting saying "Oh man! Yeah! haha!" or "Great post man, I love it". When everyone involved in that interaction is knowingly disingenuous. If I am to make the claim that I value genuine social interaction over financially incentivised engagement than how am I to justify my use of this as a primary platform? Evidently, I am placing value on money as opposed to social interaction otherwise I would be on Reddit.
At its core, I like this because it has the power to act a tool in the liberation of knowledge and information. It can unshackle certain topic from taboo or censorship and when it is fully operational perhaps provide funding for important research that otherwise would not exist. It gives the people power - Through giving their voice weight - but these functions exist outside of our use of this platform. So again, I wonder, why am 'I' on here? Why are you on here?
Hey hey, very good points but as you grow on the platform you will notice that you will develop a community of your own. Everyone is here to monetize their voice yes, but there are people here with the intentions of interacting with or without.
I if you go through some of my post you will see that it’s stsrting to truly develop and is getting better daily.
I actually just understood it when you mentioned about a community. It's not about posting banal "this is what I had today" it's about building a community, similar to something like Patreon. I've followed you man, thank you for helping me with that dude. I can quit my bitching now. That's made me feel all warm and optimistic now.
I'm definitely going to be writing some uninformed articles about how this made me subjectively feel later
😃😃 glad I could help. It took me a while as well but once the bulb goes off it’s a wonderful thing. Hope to see you post.
I'm new to this platform still. So far all I see are bots and whales who are selfishly killing the platform. Of course there are exceptions, but there are many who are guilty of this. It leaves a sour taste in the mouth of any new user and creates a massive barrier to entry for the little guy who has just joined. I have to question the wisdom of staying here under such circumstances; which is sad because STEEM has great potential.
I would like to see a ban on bots, no resteeming, the end of reputation scores, anonymous voting and no promoted or trending posts. This would encourage the upvoting of genuinely good content.
I don't know if this will fix the issue we face.
Who knows? Probably just academic anyway, I doubt anyone cares to implement my ideas! But I fear that the current path is unsustainable.
Some good ideas but they won’t be implemented as it would kill off the whales who hold over 90% of Steem and so the vast majority of the influence. What incentive would their be to hold $1 million in Steem if it gave you nothing in return?
Easy. If the platform does well and grows more popular, then their STEEM will increase in value. They may lose influence, but they'll gain monetary value.
Why will Steem increase in value? The value of Steem is entirely independent of the number of users on steemit. People buying Steem is the only thing that will make the price increase. Therefore for the price to go up, there needs to be an incentive to buy and hold Steem. And if you remove that incentive, people will sell not buy!
Are you familiar with Metcalfe's law? It applies in this scenario.
I don’t really agree with the use of bits although I have used them some time ago. The concept of Steemit is that quality rises to the top and bots prevent this. But it’s up to the individual!
Just to be really really honest, resteeming is not like the "share" on facebook. I rather check out steemians blog directly, then checking my feed. Why? Because it still looks like cancer and doesn't feel convenient
Very true.
Oh no! I've been sinning naive. This disappoints me. Something is not working here. Anyway, I've only used it twice. I write in Spanish and I noticed that it did not make sense to advertise in an Anglo-Saxon world.
We have all be down the road of enlightenment 😂
Not going to be a comment that goes over too well on steemit, but I look forward to whatever @dan Daniel Larimer has planned for the steemit of EOS and hope he has ironed out the kinks he sees here. He knows he built an imperfect ecosystem and I believe he will have great tweaks that will see his vision more materialized in the next iteration.
Yea folks here seem to have developed a cult like compass. Speak the truth and get blackballed it seems
Thanks I never thought of this! I have used them from time to time. I tend to agree with what others say on here - that they are just built up bty follow for follow or in your example dummy/bot accounts. Sigh.
The problem is you cant really measure whether they are effective or not and there isnt any rules around them so they will just keep popping up
Tricky situation indeed. and there is real way to fight it.
True that. I have been using them sporadically and they really dont make a huge difference if any
Bot trash.
Resteem bots are close to ineffective. They expose the post to quantity not quality users. It is trash.
Making comments is the way to gradual progression on Steemit without fait investments. It is ‘making friend who will get to see your post’ system.
In this platform exposure is key, the trending and hot section are generally flooded by the same users so it is tough to break through.
Expect that Steam will rise and therefore we should invest as much as possible
Really very special article
Thank you
its a good information.thanks for sharing
if the bot is not good, or for what.
Thank you for the info...i don't like RESTEEM BOTS...
50/50 on this subject.
Why??
thank you for your advices, i dont use the resteem bots.
Yes sir you actually are right. I mean who goes to there page to like any post. This is not worth it clearly. Thanks for making this post to spread awareness.

You got it. Thanks for warning the community.
Resteem bots are not worth it at all.
The people you want an upvote from don’t follow the Resteembots, what means that they don’t see you posts anyway.
The mass of people which see your posts mostly have a sp under 50 and even they don’t upvote the posts resteemed from bots.
Not worth it at all.
This doesn't make sense for me.Why would anyone pay for artificial resteems done by bots?Do these bot accounts even have real followers?Bidbots are much better in terms of utility because they can make real people notice your content
