I am one of them. Tron for sure will boost Steem's marketing, but also a lot of new issues, as you pointed out. Even after all these years it seems like a very scammy project, good at marketing, but bad at delivering actual value.

Also by coincidence, the announcement comes on the same day of Beta launch of VOICE, a new social media backed by Dan Larimer, the old Steemit founder.

I don't think that this was a coincidence, to me it seems more like @ned's final middle-finger to @dan.
