Hey Steemers,
Just want to spread the word on the upmost importance of updating your password/keys after the recent hacks. Your funds could still be AT RISK of being stolen. The entire Steemit Team has done a great job thwarting the issues including the recent DDos attacks.
With that said.... it's time to follow these steps broken down so you can prevent your stolen funds:
- Click on your profile image, then select permissions
- Here you will see all your keys
- POSTING
- ACTIVE
- OWNER
- MEMO
You will be prompted here to log in. Change your keys to new Secure 256 Hex codes. Here's a simple Secure Generator without needing to download any additional software.
If you want a more robust tool for managing your passwords check out:
1Password - Store all your passwords, PIN codes, documents, credit cards in one location.
It is always good practice to rotate your passwords for optimal security no matter what it's for.
Steem on Steemers!
You can really just set your keys to random values and have everything work? Don't they have to be... you know... keys? Consisting of a public and private key in a mathematical relationship?
Or are you suggesting we all just change our passwords?
It's good to have unique password for each login (Posting, Active & Owner). Rotating them at different times is extra security(but at the very least good to change them now once after the hack)
Cheers mate, very helpful!
Thanks for the link too.
hey thank you so much! the thieves wont be stealing from me anytime soon!!
thanks
thx
