Wow Steem on the rise @ $1.77 and SBD @ $5.63!

Been watching the markets all week and the bottom of my jaw is bloody from being dragged on the floor so long.

When it comes to STEEM I have read as much as I could in the last 7 days to understand how the system works but I seem to still have a slight misunderstanding about steem and SBD. It is my understanding that "holding on to STEEM" for too long makes it less valuable, so the idea is to have vests, and SBD, which is supposed to hold the value of about $1. So according to the chart above, the last time this happened, it was remedied. Can someone explain in layman's terms how this was solved? I wonder because I find posts at around the time of the last spike as suggestions so finding the answer is rather difficult!

Is this a good thing? Will SBD being more than $1 ever be a good thing or is it intended to function more like Tether?

This tells me that if 1 STEEM ever hits $100, then I would be cashing out 100 SBD to equal 1 STEEM (since SBD is supposed to hold a 1:1 ratio with USD). However, holding on to STEEM makes it lose value. According to this post 6 months ago by @someguy123 one great feature of SBD is to be able to easily bill customers. This was also written at about the same time of the spike shown in the chart. So as I stated, I see suggestions but no answer to the solution.

I seem to be a little confused as to how all this works because holding on to STEEM makes it lose value. Unless STEEM is intended to be sold to a user who has intentions of turning said STEEM into STEEM POWER / Vests and get started on the platform, so the sale is quick, and the STEEM conversion to STEEM POWER is quick.
