RE: Let's talk about Steem

Please explain the difference between

  • an oracle that doesn't whitelist your account because of your "social behaviour" (as @ned said) and therefore is blocking your payout
  • and censorship

Don't get me wrong, i think, i got the technical differences. Of course your content isn't wiped out, but it's just another way of punishment you may be faced to, isn't it?

Sort:

accounts would always be able to post, the payouts would be denied.

Now, if we equate:

Didn't get paid = Censorship

Then the conversation has reached a new level of distortion.

Oops, i definitely do not want to threaten anybody with my opinion, uhm, distortion.

Maybe i totally missed the point and hopefully we'll get additional replies.

Let me explain myself better. Oracles don't have the power to stop an account from posting. Even if that account is deemed a bad user, someone who is "labeled" as such can continue to participate of the SMT. He or She just wont make any money.

I clearly got the technical background.

It's just a matter of the perspective, if denying the payout on a network, that's unique feature is the payout, and that because of your "social behaviour", is a kind of censorship.

Probably, that's the quintessence of our argument. :)

I rather call it monetary deterrent. Because at the expense on debating semantics. Censorship would mean no one could see it, ever.

That would not be the case, but your point is taken.
