An oriental teacher, when he saw how a scorpion was drowning, decided to remove it from the water. When he did, the scorpion stung him. From the reaction to the pain, the teacher released him, and the animal fell into the water and was again drowning.
The master tried to get it out again, and again the scorpion stung him.
Someone who had observed everything, approached the teacher and said: "Excuse me ... but you are stubborn! Do not you understand that every time you try to get it out of the water it will sting you? "
The teacher replied: "The nature of the scorpion is itching, and that is not going to change mine, which is to help." And then, using a leaf, the teacher took the animal out of the water and saved his life.
Do not change your nature if someone hurts you; just take precautions. Some pursue happiness, others create it.
Love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing from them; and your great reward will be, and you will be children of the Most High; because he is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. Luke 6:35
Perhaps on more than one occasion you helped someone and it seemed you were not grateful to yourself or that at another time you needed their help and did not reciprocate. Such experiences often discourage us from continuing to help those who need it.
But as Christians we must learn to be kind and always be willing to help without expecting anything in return. Jesus taught us that we should not only love our enemies, but also to do them good.
Today is a good day for you to start helping those around you, regardless of whether they thank you or return the favor. The true reward comes from God.
