The Frenzy of Byteball Airdrop to Steemians

by @karmachela | July 23, 2018

If they thought we were not going to talk about this topic, you were wrong; It was everyone's favorite theme last week. Now let's explain how this Byteball theme works for which you are still interested

A few days ago exactly on July 13, 2018, a furor broke out among the Steemians after @punqtured made a post titled Official Byteball Airdrop to Steemians. Instantly, the post was trending on Steemit.com and managed to collect 1254 votes and 2067 comments when this news was written.

In his writings, @punqtured explained that the Byteball team was amazed to see the development of technology and the Steemian community that made them interested to join. Byteball wants to engage large communities through easy-to-use applications and Steem is the largest community of crypto. Byteball assumes that the Steem community is an outstanding content producer that will help achieve this goal.

Byteball offers free Byteball Bytes (the native token of the Byteball DAG) to 1,000,000+ Steem users. It is organized through Steem Attestation Bot on Byteball wallet.

Steem users only need to do attestation, which proves that someone has an account in Steem through a bot on Byteball wallet. If the attestation is successful then the user will get a byte reward in the amount that has been set, that is based on reputation score on his account in Steem. The higher the reputation score then the greater the reward that will be obtained.

The attestation rewards are as follows:

  • Steem reputation above 30 will get a $ 10 reward
  • Steem reputation above 40 will get a $ 20 reward
  • Steem reputation above 50 will get a $ 40 reward
  • Steem reputation above 60 will get a $ 80 reward
  • Steem reputation above 70 will get a $ 160 reward

As explained by @punqtured that rewards are divided into 50/50 between cash and smart contracts, such as the distribution of rewards on the Steem platform ie between SBD and STEEM. This means that 50% of the rewards can be spent immediately after the endorsement and the other 50% is paid to a smart contract that can be opened after one year. After this time period is reached, the user will be able to withdraw the remaining 50%.

Another interesting thing from this airdrop is the referral program that provides rewards as well. Reward reference depends on the referenced user's reputation, not the referring, and reward to refer to 75% divided into smart contract and 25% immediately.

However, to perform the attestation, the bot will request a transaction fee of 0.5 megabytes. The new wallet certainly does not have any number of bytes in it. The interesting thing about this airdrop is the steemian, voluntarily helping each other to do the attestation by giving the required number of bytes.

In a short time, many Steem users participated in this airdrop. This is evidenced by the hectic talks on some community servers on the discord, many requests for sponsored and complaints about bots that do not respond.

Many complaints about bots are not responding, so users do not get a link to authorize via Steemconnect which is part of their Steam attestation process. Many suspect that this happens because the bot is slow because it gets a high attestation request at the same time.

Apart from the technical problems, this airdrop manages to be a trending topic on Steemit.com and creates excitement among Steemians. Especially for new Steem users who still have low reputation scores, some are motivated to improve their reputation score by actively posting and commenting.
