It should be a wide open space with plenty of exits, and depending on the severity of the fire may offer hiding places in the basement, cieling, walls, attic. There may be infrastructure that could be turned into weapons-vase shards, shelving units, wiring etc. There may even be a water source. There may even be a backup generator, and tertiary means to get online (if you can't be cell)-and that could inform you which plants (if any left) may be edible..
