The Estimated Value isn't necessarily correct?!?!
So would you like to know it's value,
right now...in US dollars?
right now...in US dollars?
Like I did in my previous guide on How is my post's payout calculated into Steem Power and Steem Dollars? There is going to be a little bit of math, but I promise it won't be anything difficult.
Q: So how can I figure out my current account value in US dollars?
The major reason the Estimated Account Value can be inaccurate is because your Steem Dollars are being treated as if they were worth $1 US of Steem, instead of over $7 right now. If all you have are Steem and Steem Power, then your account value will likely (not always) be more accurate. (This is because this uses a 3.5 day average of the Steem price. So major price movements in a short amount of time can throw it off.)
We're going to use this as our example:
Current Price of Steem (at time of writing) = $6.50/Steem
- Check Current Price Here --> https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/steem/
Current Price of Steem Dollars (at time of writing) = $7.08 - Check Current Price Here --> https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/steem-dollars/
So what we're going to do is multiply your Steem and Steem Power times the current price of Steem, multiply your Steem Dollars by the current price of your Steem Dollars...and add it all together.
[NOTE: You can NOT sell you Steem Power until it's 'unlocked' a bit each week by powering down.]
In our example, our Steem is worth:
Amount of Steem * Steem Price = 2.002 Steem * $6.50/Steem = $13.013
our Steem Power is worth:
Steem Power * Steem Price = 19.521 Steem Power * $6.50/Steem = $126.89
You'll ONLY use the part on the top line...NOT the number in parentheses.
and your Steem Dollars are worth:
Steem Dollars * Steem Dollar Price = 97.507 SD * $7.08/SD = $690.35
YOUR GRAND TOTAL IS...
Steem Value + Steem Power Value + Steem Dollar Value
=$13.013 + $126.89 + $690.35 = $830.25
One final note...
You'll have to check the current prices and replace the ones I used for Steem and Steem Power. Also, this doesn't mean the prices when be the same if you were to power down and/or transfer things through a final exchange.

Thank you for doing the math for us! Nice post :)
No Problem. :)
I really do get asked this question a lot and it's much easier to just show it this way than just telling them. :)
Hi @sykochica, I love these posts, I recenlty translated this one into spanish.
❓Answering Common Questions: How is my post's payout calculated into Steem Power and Steem Dollars? 💵
Respondiendo Preguntas Frecuentes: ¿Cómo se calcula el pago de mi publicación en Steem Power y Steem Dollars?
I'm planning on translating more of these if that's ok with you.
Yep..that's totally no problem. All I ever ask for it just a credit with link back the original, which you already had in there. Perfect. :)
Feel free to translate any of my guides...and you can keep any payouts from them! :)
Thanks for this explanation. What does the +50 Steem mean in () under Steam power?
That is Steem Power that's been "delegated" to you. Think of it as a loan of Steem Power from somebody else. Likely in your case, it was 'loaned' to you temporarily by the main Steemit account...for free.
This delegated, or loaned Steem Power acts as if it's yours when you vote...so your vote gives more $ when you cast it. However, you can't actually withdraw that loaned Steem Power since you don't actually own it.
I hope I didn't make it more confusing...but I'll put a guide together on this topic. :)
can I translate this post to other languages?
thank you
Absolutely...all I ask is including a link to the original. You can keep any payouts you get. :)
Great! You can support the translated post:)

we never know that the first time steem launched the steem price is very cheap, but now amazing. we will not be awkward to add back steem power that is so expensive.
@sykochica
Thanks for this very helpful post. It answered some of the confusing and nagging questions that had been perturbing my since I joined this platform a few weeks ago.

Feel free to ask any other questions you might have. I'm sure I can either get you a 'guide' that I've made on it or just provide then answer if I don't have one. :)
slowly understanding how all this works, thanks for the post explaining it.

I know the learning curve here is daunting..def don't let it overwhelm you. Just pick up little bits each day. :)

@sykochica, I sound like a broken record when I say
"your posts are so helpful."
I don't ever miss any of your posts.
I had difficulty calculating the value of my account and how my rewards were distributed between curators and authors. It took me some time and a lot of reading to get it right.
I hope this peice gets to as many newbies and those who need it. I resteemed and shared the link with a few newbies I introduced to steemit to help them.
Upvoted and resteemed.
Thank you.

Ve always thought about wah power down means thanks alot @sykochica
I have noticed that thought he price may be around 6-7$ , the account balance is still shown to be lower
thank you so much for doing this.
no knowledge is wasted.
good information
This was super helpful. I was actually wondering how to do this just last night. Woke up to this post. Thank you @sykochica! :)
Thank you! I was actually wondering this last night, no wonder it sometimes seems off. I am going to have to bookmark this post.
one more thing i have learned from you :)
When I joined 39 days ago, they had changed the power down to 13 days, you get 1 13th a day for 13 days @sykochica instead of weekly, just for future information. Nice post.
As far as I know it's still over 13 weeks...I even double checked this with another person to make sure I hadn't missed something.
I'd be curious to see either a post on it or screenshots (if you happen to test it out.) I'd def wanna know if this was the case. (I've just seen that yet, still seeing the 7 day timer for those powering down.)
My bad, I remembered it as a change to a 13th a day, seems you are correct and it is a 13th a week.
@skyochica awesome awesome tutorial here
Nice post once again ...good to get a rough idea around with it :)
Also, I think that your account need to be worth more depending on the number of followers you have and their SP, I think that It's more important to have 1000 followers and 50 SP then 50 followers and 1000 SP, just my oppinion.
It's too easy to game that system by just making a bunch of fake 'bot' accounts to follow somebody. In the end it's either the votes we get from our posts/comments (with a little curation rewards) or from steem we paid outside money for.
On one end I get what you're saying, but a pure follower count isn't really a meaningful metric, especially here. Just cause an account have 50,000+ followers, doesn't mean that translates to any votes...hence no value (in the technical sense.)
Again I understand that followers dosen't mean upvotes, but we can always count steempower from our followers like busy.org does, in that way you could avoid those bot counters. And except followers, an account can be worth more based on our reputation, again that could be again false becouse of @berniesanders and his -18 reputation..
Maybe the best way to estimate the value of someones account is truly our wallets :D Thanks you, I needed this conversation with you to figure out this for myself :)
Once again great job @sykochica! I've featured you in my "Not-a-guide" guide to Steemit. Your posts are a charm. Thank you!
Power up those Steem Dollars people! :D
good posts are always successful friends and in blessing @sykochica

very impressive to me @sykochica
Very useful calculation. Hope I'm going to need in the future. Saved in safe place😄. Because I'm 8 days old.😄 Upvoted, resteemed and followed by @motherearthist.
Thank you @sykochica! Great reminder and excellent info for those of us watching our numbers. ;)
ps – I have a rather urgent concern about a truly gross, flagrant reward-pool abuser that my partner happened to stumble upon. The guy is literally earning many thousands through a scarily simple loophole – one that my partner says 'must be closed' before many others discover it. I don't want to describe it here for that very reason. I can find no relevant discord channel, and no one is responding in the steemit.chat #flagclub. Have you any ideas??
I love you

Good detail on how to understand how to work with calculations thanks @skyochica
Thanks for the awesome explanation!
