News from dropahead: Bye bye 25+ and 50+! Welcome 20+ 40+ and 60+!

I have to admit that I am completely overwhelmed having just joined a few days ago. If you could point out one thing to do consistently, what would it be?

@TheSteemEngine is a group with a fairly unique model for encouraging interaction among its members- before you can add your post in post promotion (which you can only do once per day) you have to upvote and comment on two other posts in the channel. It's a great place, and fosters community really well.

The introduction post should be read first, but here's the discord channel link:

Nice!! I'll take a look and get the group added to the list in the post. :)

Awesome, thanks!

My little Israeli community is now working on some guidance posts in Hebrew for the new users we're bringing onto the platform. Mind if one of the guys translates this (with credit, of course)?

Absolutely! All of my guides are open for translation. All I ask is the link to the original. The translator can keep all the payout rewards. :-)

You are made of win and awesome. <3

Awww! What can I say...I'm a huge fan of finding Win/Win scenarios. :)

As am I. We've crossed the 100 line in our IsraSteem group on Facebook. We have a @hebrewguides account for everything. I am so proud I helped put this together. Having guides for the newbies helps a lot, and with more Hebrew speakers, we need guides like yours in a language they understand.

And again, thank you!

I lost you comment the other day. If you have people with language issues, @majes.tytyty and @ghasemkiani teach on their blogs here.

Also you might want to reach out to
@surppasinggoggle - all
@kachinhenry - myanmar
@bitrocker2020 - malaysia
@tookta @thaiteam

And other countries to see what they are doing with their teams. It is not easy to keep up with your peeps, especially when they are mostly low rep.

That's freaking impressive! Damn!!

Here is a link to all of my previous guides...though there are some that are out of date or irrelevant now. But I'll have an updated list in the near future. :)

You are awesome! Thank you!

No problem!

The first rule of steemit is: always follow @sykochica 's advise
The second rule of steemit is: above.
The third ru....

If somebody is a good networker it's her.

Fantastic guide and lots of great resources thank you!

Comments, Comments and Comments

Yea, its sooo crucial to growth! And i'm only just learning that now.

Thank you!
I hope it helps give you a boost. :)

The only point I would quibble with is ... "Great post" is not really an acceptable comment. It reeks of spam. It is apt to get your comment hidden completely by an annoyed author ... and it definitely will not win you many friends on Steemit. If you want to succeed, try to do better than that. Two word comments show minimal effort and will earn you neither rewards nor good will.

Other than that, this is a terrific post and I am promoting it to our group in Discord. Thanks ever so much to @Mountainwashere for bringing it our attention.

I NEVER stay "great post" in a comment. I'm commenting so they know if I like their post or not. There is enough butt-kissing here and we don't need any more.

I can definitely understand what you're saying...and the two word comments can get you flagged, though typically this is when every comment you see in their comment tab that way.

I've been in the position myself before where I really wanted to leave something, but that's all I had, was a couple words. So I just didn't want to draw the line in this guide saying to not do it, but rather focus on the things that would get the positive response they were likely looking for.

But again..this is important for new people to know. Two word comments like great post at best get you nothing and can lead to being flagged. :)

I am not doing any chatting, but I agree with the rest of your ideas.

Commenting works the best for me and also watching and particapting in certain tags. I like #freewite by @mariannewest and other challenges. Also - steemiteducation is good if you write tutorials.

It is possible to make money here right at the start. I wrote this post for discouraged minnows

Make Money Blogging on Steemit Top Tips and Checklist for Better Results!!

And this is a list of challenges to post into so your are not posting to no one. This is Part Two and leads to Part One.
https://steemit.com/steemitchallenges/@kalemandra/daily-and-weekly-contests-and-challenges-part-two-day-by-day

This is one hell of a great guide!! Very thorough!! :D

Thank you so much! I give it out many times a week. The poor minnows gasp here :)

I was thinking of asking you about different what different channels should I use to start networking, and just 11 hours ago you wrote this blog ... you are so so amazing @sykochica .. Thank you for everything, you are truly feeding the soil with some good advices of yours ..thanku again and lots of love :)

@thesteemengine and @qurator have Discord channels that are worth joining if you're going to invest time in people. They only allow membership to people who produce quality content, so you'll have more opportunities to engage with comments (and upvotes).

Great advice and so many communities with so little time. That's the one thing I'm struggling with right now. I need to make copies of myself so I can be everywhere at once. @thealliance is also a great community as well for those looking for a place to fit in as well as @steemusa.

This is great advice. Comment, comment, comment. I also started writing 5 minute story's on freewrite. @mariannewest picks a word or phrase in the morning and you write a story. It's fun and they have some great authors in the group.

Im member for a week now and I try to commend on interesting articles but about all the other methods to meet people I didnt know. I dont really understand what the steemgig- thing is about so I guess I have to dive into that a bit more. Thanks for the help :)

Great stuff. Trying to learn the ecosystem here has been tough. Guides like this are very helpful. I've invested nearly $1000 in steem so I'm trying to figure out if I need to invest more to make it worth my while or just spend quality time working to better understand the community. I

Ummm, while I can't tell anyone what to do with their money...

It somewhat depends on how much your thinking of spending. But I'd recommend posting, commenting and voting for a little bit, just to get to know the platform and have an idea of how it works. Then decide if you want to invest to build up faster.

I enjoy leaving personalized comments and not the generic lines because it keeps the discussion going. This is one of the ways I am able to make connections because people here do respond to relevant comments and they are willing to talk more about the topic they have posted.

And Steemitchat! I love this because that's where I met you @sykochica and other Steemians who have been very supportive. I came here in Steemit without any friends and a support group is really helpful here. Plus, it's fun to talk real time about random topics.

I will be checking out the other channels that you have recommended here. I have just downloaded the discord app. Thank you for another informative and helpful post! :)

Some good advice here. I do comment a lot but need to get on chat and discord. I will look into it I need to! Thanks my friend for the resourceful information.

Great post. I've introduced a few people to Steemit and some are doing right, while others just don't get the whole thing. @eriluks gets it, and she's working hard, making good posts and forging relationships, so I'm delighted to see her doing so well.

Oh nice!! I like her stuff...got her a vote and follow too. :)
It's so gratifying seeing friends new to Steemit start succeeding. :)

This is a much needed kick in the butt to get myself forward into full steem mode again, @sykochica.

I have allowed life to have enough time getting in my way and I am ready to put things 'in order'. :)

Thank you much my friend :)

Bright Blessings & Lots of Love

Oh I can sooooooo understand! I actually just got back from a 5 month hiatus recently. It's so easy to be 'all in' on Steemit that it can be hard to find and maintain the balance with life. (stupid adulting!! lol)

You'd probably really like the TeamGirlPowa discord...great, chill people in there. :)

So it's normal then :) .... sigh of relief

LMAO about the adulting! Yes, the balance is quite illusive at times haha 💖

I am pretty good with SteemitChat so far but I am seriously challenged when it comes to discord. Getting comfortable and finding my way around there is on my list for 2018 and that will be one of the first discords I check out :) Thank you for the heads up.

I know discord can be strange at the beginning. Feel free to hit me up if you'd like me to walk you through it sometime. I'm @sykochica on steemit.chat. :)

Thank you ~ will do :)

This was extremely helpful. Thanks for all the information. I'm definitely going to comment more on posts I like. Discord channel is quite a handful though. Looking forward to a day when I can actually handle it😀 thanks.

I'm happy to be helpful!
Discord does take a little bit to get used to, so don't get overwhelmed. Many people find steemit.chat a little easier to start with. But you'll find what works best for you. :)

Keep Smilin' and Steem On!

I'm interested in the #whaleshares & I have registered for the Discord, but I don't know how to connect those 2 & use the possibilities...?!

Do I need to have BitShares wallet?

If yes, where to download it?

It's all a bit unknown for me...

Shortly after writing this I saw that the whaleshares tokens were being offered to be bought back after a whale removed their delegation to the project. So I'd first check that the project is going.

But yes, you'll need the bitshsares wallet (openledger i believe) to be able to buy and hold them. It's been a long time since I'd gone through that, so I would suggest asking one of the people on that discord for instructions. I'll reply a guide if I find one that looks to be well written. (I don't think I have one together for that right now.)

Thank you very much!

Thanks for the help with this. Being so new to the community in general, it's hard to find communities. Thanks for the helpful post.

Only knew about steem chat and discord. Thx for the info!also.Happy new year 😃!

Thank you for this, i just started steemit today! Trying to get out there and let everyone know about me and discover people to follow. I'll be making a introduction post soon!

Very useful post and thanks for the advice !

Woow good post nice fren

Your posts are very good. I like. very beneficial for the reader

best regards. follow me and votes @radiasi

I joined steemit one month ago.....The most valuable information i need is i get from this post....thankyou very much,,,,,,,,

This is very good advice for folks. Good job. I resteemed this one for sure. You also got my vote.

Thanks so much for this. I had no idea there was Steer-Based chats in Discord.... got it now, I find Discord so much easier to use than the native steem-chat.... Looking forward to getting to know a few more people. :-)

Time to do it thanks for sharing this :)

I didn't know there are so many steem related hangouts I am only in one or two discord channels I really need to step up my game

Awesome list! Thanks for the work you put into this! 😊
Upvoted and resteemed!

thanks for sharing such tips will try my best :)

Ohh wow ...good advice here...!!! much needed to get myself forward....

lots of way to communicate thanks for sharing them all

Awesome post, this will change/better my way of approach on steemit

DO YOU KNOW WHO ARE ORGANIZING CONTEST ON WHALESHARE TOKENS.

That I'm not sure...sorry. I've not been in there too much lately. I'd ask in their general channel on that one.

It’s a truly helpful post! Very sincere and contains a lot of great information. For sure it’ll help a lot of steemers. Thank you @sykochica for sharing your knowledge with us! =D

what a great post ....
by this post u r helping many other minnows just like me..
thank you, thank you,and thank you mam.

I've done all of these things with very little progress. I have a thousand "followers" but I'm only averaging 20 votes with way less comments. With 1.5 years under my belt, I don't know what I could do to improve. It seems I have hit my ceiling and it's time to look for a different community that appreciates my effort.

I'll dm you in chat. See if I can think of things that might help out for you:-)

This post was very helpful. I am just getting started and i have made plenty of mistakes. Thank you. I am getting the hang of it.

CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR POST ... GOOD INFORMATION

I am new to steemit and I find this guide really helpful :) I have a question about discord ... did the whalebot really works ??

Whaleshares? Yea...it's legitimate. I've used it before.
Also some good people in their discord. :)

I am in Steemit only two weeks so far, and it seems like a whole new world to me. There is so much I need to learn ( whales, bots, upvotes, python pays, etc) and not because of the money, but out of curiosity and out of the desire to bring a quality content to this platform and to my followers, not like I have many, but still. I often feel discouraged and in doubt of myself, but when I see a post like this I start seeing some lights in the dark :-) Thank you, I appreciate your help :-)

Feel free to ask me questions in discord (sykochica#9521) or steemit.chat (sykochica) private messages. I know sometimes the guides don't cover all the details. :)

Okay wow she took it upon herself to give us(new bees) details on almost everything,if not everything lol,I really needed to see this, thanks.

Thank you very much @sykochica Your advise was so well.I will try my best.Thank u for your well advise.
