Cooking for the park or "we could have flying cars by now"

Last friday we did it. We had a guest at frameworks: Shaun from New York City. He is one of those people you want to meet in live, positive, sharing, generous, kind, well, simply carying and at the same time himself.

He learned about our outreach programme @generationeuropa and spontaniously offered to cook. As he is a cook himself, this was a real treat. So we decided to cook a lot, like a lot lot, go to the park infront of our office and just hand it out to people while informing about @globalschool, and the work we generally do. About Europe, studying abroad, learning generally, about ideas and how we can be part of our own ideas becoming real. It was quite a surprise when I learned that some people apparently did not have the chance to explore the idea of the European Union, by the way. Infact someone asked me in a tone of entire surprise and disbelieve something like:

"So you are serious, I can just go to France and live there?"

Yes you can. So here we are, in a park in the 20th district in Vienna, the Allerheiligenpark, inviting randome people to come and eat with us and we realize how priveleged we are. So here is our mission, we are going to empower the 20th district. Inspire people, invite people, realize ideas!

But back to the cooking and what it ment for me doing it. It was a donation to the park, we bought the food, Shaun was cooking in his freetime and we gave it away for free. One might think it was a charity event. But, it was not. Because the first to arrive to our little stand with food where children, super curious of what we would be doing, super polite and interessted, well also funny. Then the teenagers came, they too wanted to know who we are, and what this all is. And then came their parents and siblings. We ended up having a great chat with people of this district about this and that. In the end, is was not only a donation, it was a realy fun thing to do. Allmost like an activity you would want to do while visiting a city. Cooking for a park. A pop-up social event that inspires and simply is fun. So, I just need a kitchen, and a park and I would do the pop-up park cooking in any city I go to. It could spred.

@mammasitta, we were having a little conversation about circles, about carring because of carrying that you initiated and inspired many others. I feel like this is connected to that. Somehow in this park those elements of circles got trigered. It created a beautifull friday spring evening. Maybe it was because of children, because children have this natural, honest, naive but allways interessted way of exploring. They gladly helped me clean the place after wards, even picking up garbage that clearly was not created by us. For a moment a little circle was created, lasting just for that evening. One impact it had was this one: The next day I walked through the park, as I allways do to get to the subway, and there was this kid again, greeting me with a smile on its face.

Maybe we can establish short little circles, create moments of carying. I would propose together with @jnmarteau who inspired me to engage with steemit and who initiated many, many such ideas, especially this one, lets have steemit meet-ups in the parks of vienna with a pop-up cooking done by one of us.

PS: "We could have flying cars by now" is what Shaun constantly repeated implying, if we all just were a bit more carrying, focusing on essentials and not waisting time with competing, not trusting and all that, we could have flying cars by now. Man we are just wasting time with stuff, lets stop wasting time and do the real thing! Lets advance the global civilization!
