You equate bid bots to supporting someone doing a hostile take over of the blockchain and illegally using customer funds on exchanges to facilitate that. Look what is left of Steem now, what will it look like in 3-6 months?
All comparaisons deserve consideration, even if it is for exclusion :)
The abuse of bidbots was a hostile takeover of the reward pool and a threat to Steem. I agree with you, the damage was not the same.

Bid bots were status quo, people will gravitate to what is most efficient and easy. HF21 changed the economics and allowed the community to move away from them by offering better tools and economics.
