Me & The Productivity Planner - Starting our relationship

in #stationery8 years ago (edited)

Tomorrow is a big day, it's the first day of the first week of me living by the Productivity Planner! I have high hopes for this relationship. On the last day of of work last week, that is Friday, I prepared what I need to do this coming week. As a stationery geek I'm quite excited. I plan to keep you updated on the Productivity planner experience, give you all an honest review. The good, the bad and the ugly. All the dirty details.

Why do I need a productivity planner in my life? I need it because:

  • I'm easily distracted
  • Struggle to prioritise
  • Lose track of the big picture when I get stressed, focusing on unnecessary details
  • I set unachievable goals for myself

Did I go out of my way to buy the productivity planner? No. It was given to me as a birthday present. My friend Anneka bought me this. We work at the same place. This might be a hint.

I hope that if nothing else, this productivity planner will help me set more achievable goals. I mean, most relationship at least bring something good with them. I also hope my boyfriend will respect that I play away with the productivity planner. I mean, it really does offer me something he can't.

The book has a weekly plan spread where you set your goals for the week from important to less important. It also has a page for each day of the week.

Each day of the week greets you with an inspirational quote. We all need inspirational quotes. I mean, I'm pretty inspirational myself but sometimes I need a helping hand.

Define your tasks. One super important one. Two less important and two even lesser important. Give an estimate in pomodoros. 1 pomodoro = 25 min. When you've completed the task you need to also say how long it actually took. I mean, this will be hard. I'm good at lying to msyelf. I did weight-wathchers. I guess this is a bit like weight-watchers, but instead of watching calories and meal planning, we are managing time.

There's some space for notes. I'm not sure yet what I shall fit in this small space for notes. Maybe a reminder? Something I need to do the next day. We'll see what happens. I'm not sure about this because sometimes I really think size matters.

Be honest and rate your productivity. At the end of the day, we need to rate our productivity. I will try not to lie to myself.

For other stationery geeks:

  • It smells like: Michelin tyres
  • The cover feels like: not like michelin tyres, but it's got nice texture
  • The pages feel like: nice quite thick paper. Not as soft as moleskin paper though.
  • It weighs: It's got a really good weight. doesn't feel light and cheap, feels quite luxurious.

Will update tomorrow on how my first day with the productivity planner goes.
