Starknet is a Layer2 zero-knowledge protocol that was officially launched on its mainnet on July, 2023. The platform has seen exponential growth so far with multiple decentralized applications in its ecosystem.
Starnet ecosystem is home to Dexes, NFT marketplaces, lending protocols, and other defi applications to satisfy web3 users’ needs any time of day.
Now, where can you find these amazing applications to enjoy the smooth and low-cost transactions that starknet offer?
To join and interact with applications on the starknet ecosystem, you need a non-custodial wallet that offers supports for starknet network. There are currently two of these at the moment namely, Argent wallet and Braavo wallet.
Personally, I have found Argent wallet much more convenient hence, for this writeup, we will be using argent wallet to access and interact with the starkne5 ecosystem
Step 1: Install Argent Wallet
- Go to the argent website and add the argent wallet extension to your chrome or firefox browser.
- For mobile users, download the argent mobile wallet from App Store or Google Play through this link.
Or simply visit their website at argent.xyz and follow the links there for your respective browsers/devices.
Step 2: Create a new wallet and fund it
- After installing the extension, create a new wallet, set your login password, and backup your recovery phrase (very important)
- Next, add funds to your wallet by clicking on the corresponding button in the wallet as seen in the screenshot below
- Choose any of the 4 methods provided to send the funds to your newly created starknet wallet.
You can add funds by bridging in Eth from Ethereum network through the starknet native bridge, Layerswap or orbiter finance; by sending it directly from an exchange; buying eth with your credit/debit card; or by having a friend send you some from his/her already funded Starknet wallet.
Step 3: Visit Dappland from your Argent wallet
With funding done, you’re ready to explore the possibilities in the Starknet ecosystem. Simply tap on the "DISCOVER" window in your Argent wallet where you see several Dapp icons.
You’ll be directed to dappland.com where you’ll be presented with a variety of Starknet Dapps put on there just for you.
Here you have the liberty of getting your tokens and other digital assets from the dexes, nft market places, or lend/borrow digital assets from the respective protocols.
Remember you’ll need Ethereum on the starknet network for transaction fees. Most starknet transactions cost less than a dollar, so rest assured your funds won’t be burnt needlessly on transactions gas.
