Starbucks Is Experimenting With Cashless Payments At One Of Its Biggest Stores

We can't say we didn't see this coming: Starbucks has begun testing cashless forms of payment at one of its larger franchises in downtown Seattle. The news comes after a barista on Wednesday declined to take a $20 bill for a latte and a piece of lemon cake, explaining that the store is not accepting cash, reports The Seattle Times."The test will help us understand how cashless forms of payment may impact our customer experience," a Starbucks spokesperson told the paper.

While the company didn't mention how long the experiment would last or whether it will roll out in more locations, it's not so far-fetched. Starbucks's mobile payment and ordering apphas grown to be a huge success, even causing congestion in stores across the country with so many customers picking up orders placed on their phones. So while your local Starbucks may still be accepting dolla dolla bills, you may want to download the app now and start getting used to paying with a card. But let's be honest, you've probably been doing that already
