I just joined Steemit

in #staff7 years ago

Hola! I just joined this outfit and thought I'd share my views right from the get-go since it's all fresh in my mind...

Let me explain something about my thinking first off - I am a free human and am trying to live in the world as a free human (even though none of us are actually free), but I'm living this sojourn doing as much as I possibly can without experiencing austerity or too much backlash. Since we are programmable beings, that is the program I have consciously chosen. It is consciously written into my default program, that part of the program that runs automatically in the background all the time.

Living with such a program helps trigger new thinking that wouldn't otherwise come about. I want to know what it would be like to truly be free which means at a minimum - the freedom to speak whatever comes into my mind if I wish to say it. This surely must be held as the most fundamental factor in claiming we are free.

We are being "governed" by psychopaths and I think that most would agree. There is ample evidence . But I'd like to ask you -what are the conditions that allow psychopaths to reign over so many people? Does anybody know? Anyone got their hand
up?

Did you guess right - secrecy! Very good!

So since this is the case - that psychopathy thrives in secrecy - what do we need to do to counter such conditions, (assuming that is, that we don't like psychopaths to reign over us and want to know how to change from this situation) From my musings, I think what the psychopaths clue us into is that we may find direction by going towards the opposite polarity to the one they take. So if we abhor, you know, psychopathy, then we can take signals from what the psychopaths do and take the opposite tack.

And the opposite polarity is what? Anyone?

Yes!!! Free speech!!! Did you get it again?

Excellent.

Therefore we need to be making free speech as conducive as possible, wouldntchyathink?

Yes, one of the ways to counter these thriving conditions that psychopaths love to bask in is to foster free speech - add more speech not less! Of course it's preferable that the speech be rational and not bordering on psychopathy itself. For example, proposing to kill psychopaths off! That's silly because it's going in the same direction as the psychopaths! But if that's what people have to say, then it's good to know. All information is valuable!

But if we go towards the opposite polarity of what the psychopaths prescribe this is a fabulous clue of what to do when we're stumped. Censorship and restriction is a hallmark of psychopathy. So then free speech is the way to go. Even though it gets awkward sometimes.

Head up: you've come along with me in this essay so far but now be prepared for something completely different and new. Get your mind ready to venture "out of the box" if you will...

This is fundamental if we truly wish to change the conditions that breed psychopathy - we have to abolish all restrictions to freedom of speech. That means we have to allow "hate" speech - but that can be responded to by taking no notice, it's only speech after all! Instead use that attention, that energy, to influence behavior, mouth noises that people make are irrelevant in any way other than giving you information about that person. It's good to know who has the hate.

But to live in the open is similar to what garlic is to demons.

Living in the open means we have to emancipate information - make it free, open it up and make it available to everyone. Imagine living like that? Wouldn't it be exhilarating!

Living in the open also means getting rid of copyrights, patents and "classified" information. Yep, that's what we have to do if we truly wish to keep psychopathy at bay. We have to learn to live in the open. We have to have the courage and adventurousness to see where it takes us. It will be new to us but it will also be new to the psychopaths. And put us on an equal-playing field because nobody holds pertinent knowledge to themselves then. And it will spark an expansion of human evolution.

Control is another thing that needs to be looked at. It is a disease of the spirit, the spirit which is behind the theory of money, poverty, scarcity, war, ego, banality. It sooo keeps us down!

But wait a minute - what's this got to do with joining Steemit?

It's the background I'm giving you for why I get cheesed off when filling out sign-up forms and shit. I told you, I live in the free world already and when I see this nonsense, I want to make others aware of it.

Terms of Service (TOS) of any corporation or organization (COO) that wants you to sign up with them makes me giggle. It's especially funny when the COO purports to be innovative or novel or maverick or cool or original.

Steemit, though interesting, exhibits many of the benchmarks of control when it forces users to take their generated passwords only. Ok, so Steemit may not be able to redeem user-generated passwords and so their rigidity may be a good thing, a new and better way and truly innovative because people will always be able to retrieve their password. But it's assuming we're all asses. It's like a parent deciding for a child who does naughty things such as lose their passwords all the time. I guess I don't like being treated like a child. Do you? I have never gone to a company to help them find my password. Why should I be treated like a moron?

Steemit should give users choice if it genuinely considers itself to be innovative. Even if the user would have to live with that choice. However isn't that what personal responsibility is all about? And isn't personal responsibility what freedom is all about? Making choices for us is not going in the opposite direction to dictatorship, inequality and control.

I'd really love it if a COO gave users the opportunity to make some TOS ourselves wouldn't you? My TOS would be - give me choice. Let me be the one to choose. Treat me as an adult. Treat me as an equal. And quit with the copyrights will ya!
