Time to get our own stackexchange subdomain, Hivers!

in #stackexchange3 years ago (edited)

@mahdiyari took the time to create a Hive proposal on stackexchange and we need the community's help to get it more attention! This one is a bit different from the previous Hive voting we did, the good thing is that it's not as easy to cheat. 😉

First part is to register an account and then follow Hive under this link: https://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/125691/hive-blockchain

image.png

After you're logged in you can also start voting up some of the questions and then get to the final part; create your own question!

You need to make sure that the question about Hive has direct answers, i.e. no ambiguous, vague, overly broad questions as those will be closed by moderators.

Here's a list of some of the current questions so you get an idea:

image.png

If a question comes to mind you're not seeing there, feel free to add it in and get a bigger upvote after sharing a screenshot of it here in the comments!

PS! Make sure to verify your email address which gets you past 50 reputation and allows you to form questions yourself!

Thanks everyone for the massive contributions and activity in the last post about tallying votes, many of us noticed a lot of shady activity from the "competition" and realized how easy it was to create fake accounts so let's see how they decide to finalize that poll. Nonetheless our community showed its strengths and how they can come together when needed and how big we are. Let's do the same thing here and step by step more in the future to get Hive in front of as many eyes who've been missing out on what we have here as possible!

Sort:

@acidyo , could you make it clear in the post please that new users need to be upvoting questions with a score of less than 10 as the proposal needs...

image.png

Its not very clear on the site when you first join, also if people have already voted a question over 10, they can remove the vote and are able to reuse it on another question.

I know this because I was that idiot until I spotted it and changed them!

I've voted a couple comments to the top addressing this, I'm sure people are checking them out and not just the post.

Cool, I always try and cover all the bases for the lowest common denominator (dumbo) which is generally me! have a great weekend fella :-)

Please note that the most important thing we need now is: 15 more questions with a score of 10 or more
to move to the next phase.

If you register your account (gives you 51 repuation), you can vote for 5 questions. At this point, it is better to vote for questions that are close to, but not over 10.

11 questions to go now... 😊

Also, as I mentioned in my reply below, if you've previously voted for a question that is now well over the 10 required votes, you are able to remove your vote, then use it to vote for a question that is still under 10 (which is what I just did to bump another question over the line).

And how does hive benefit from it? Could we not answer questions here? Or there are people we want to onboard? I don't get it :P

Of course we can answer questions here, and we do. But the nature of the web is such that if want to increase awareness, you have to spread information to many different parts of the web.

hmmm i agree.

But "spam" press releases/ guest posts for every "new" thing would be IMO more efficient. Because it can made also cheap. Weekly ones would be not to much for Hive (Brand/link anchors).

Important things like Hardforks in different languages + higher-quality sites with keyword anchors.

Would not cost the world and end up with "organic" questions.

Also, it would hammer the Hive brand in the heads of people + more search engine attention :)

Presumably these are the types of activities that will be carried out by the marketing proposal.

I registered and made a Hive follover #101, but I dont see a way to rise my rank and add a clever question.. sorry.

Did you try confirming your email address?

You need at least 50 reputation to propose an example question. You can earn it by confirming your email address.

Voting your comment to the top so other people can find out and not get stuck at this point.

figured out why it didnt work at 1st try - and got myself to 51 levl +

Hello @acidyo. I just followed the Hive blockchain, voted on some questions, and created an example question (with a red check mark below). Hope that helps.

Have a nice day team.

@acidyo email verification is required to vote for the comments. At first I was confused but managed to get through it. Voted 4 questions and made a question

Just registered, voted for 5 questions, and added a question of my own.

Cheers!

There you go, mate. Good luck with everything. More exposure is no bad thing :-)

Made an account, Confirmed my email, and asked a question

Let's do this peeps!

Please also cast your 5 votes on questions that aren't above 10 votes yet!

Done too mate 👍

Thanks for the reminder - I just deleted my question that got closed by an admin and added a new one. If I counted on my fingers & toes properly, I think we're close to having enough questions & just votes on all the ones lower than 10.

Also, for what it's worth, over the past week or so I've removed some of my votes for questions that had plenty, and moved them to questions under 10 to help bump them up. Just so people know that's a thing that can be done.

I just deleted my question that got closed by an admin and added a new one.

Why delete an old question? There could be people, who are interested in the answer of that question.

Unless there is an "asking restriction" (=you cannot post new questions without deleting the answered ones), there is no real advantage of deleting old questions. But why would there be such restriction? It is pointless/meaningless.

The question I deleted was no longer able to be voted on (which didn't help towards the goal of moving on to the next phase), and I couldn't ask a new question without deleting, it as each person is limited to 5 questions each.

EDITED TO ADD: And the message I got from the admin who closed my question was:

This question is not a good fit to our Q&A format. We expect answers to generally involve facts, references, or specific expertise; this question will likely solicit opinion, debate, arguments, polling, or extended discussion."

Very very cool, followed this! Thank you, been looking for something like this......

I followed and upvoted several solid questions. It's worth noting that voting on good questions that still have a score of less than 10 does help the proposal progress.

Excellent feed back, Hive does not need to fake it to make it.

Good questions raised by members in the know.

Where can I find the answers to these questions ? I cant seem to find any option regarding that!

Those are "example" questions. The sort of questions that might be asked on the Hive StackExchange platform once the proposal approved.

Oh okay, Thank you!

image.png

Una pregunta que es simple de responder ya que HIVE esta demostrando que es una nueva matriz y un ejemplo a seguir para las criptomonedas mediante sus distintos usos y sus cualidades unicas =D!

@acidyo , please add that users will receive a mail for verification which will give them 51 reputation, then they can start voting and adding questions. Also, users get 5 votes.

Just did down here in the comments but will edit it into the post as well, thanks!

I registered but I can't login. It helps me.

So does our heart amounts count for the strength of our votes?

I really want to participate in building the hive community but my ability to understand hives is still limited

Who is the target audience these questions are being directed towards?

I threw a question in the mix.... hopefully it's one that could be helpful. =)

This is great but it makes me think that EOSIO is a tech and Hive is a chain, so its a little different. But I guess SO doesn't just do tech anymore ha ha

Hope Hive makes it!

There's also the QnA site already on Hive (if it's still around)

Ok, I had previously made and account and voted questions, I removed my vote from the questions with a 10+ score and voted for some lower questions, so we can hit the goal for questions and votes. LETS DO THIS!

@tdre told me about this so I followed and voted. Thanks @mahdiyari for kicking off this initiative.

Getting the email verification on StackExchange Area 51 was a pita. Nobody's fault here tho'.

Hi @acidyo!
I hope I have helped to our community.
I created my account, voted for 5 questions and I generated a new one.
