Scouts Return!

Over the past weeks, several groups of scouts were sent out by The Council of Barons to investigate many of the strange and alarming occurrences around Beluroc. The day has come, the last of these groups has returned and The Gazette rushed to attend the debriefing.

What follows are updates to several stories we have published in previous issues:

Dragon-Fight!

Upon arriving at the scene of the apparent altercation, the scouts found only scratched and broken dragon scales and some blood splatter. Signs of dragon breath being used were seen, both having burnt the vegetation in the area and etched patterns into the stone itself.

Based on the information, it would seem one dragon was a fire breathing one; the other likely lightning. No information as to the reasons behind the attack were found. Though the scouts speculate that due to the area and the multitude of secluded stony areas, it is likely one of the dragons was defending their nest.

Dark Sky at Night!

After travelling to the Burning Lands, the scouts did indeed find the Port of Noxia crammed full of refugees. The city of Azad was also overflowing with citizenry fleeing the volcanic destruction from further inland.

According to reports, it was the Molten Mountain that erupted. As its name implies, the eruption was noted by massive flows of lava in all directions. The Burning Landers did their best to dig makeshift canals to direct the lava away from the more densely populated portions of the continent but they were not 100% successful.

Our relief mission was tremendously successful both in establishing more welcoming ties between the peoples of our two lands but also in garnering the goodwill of the ruling elite across the sea.

Derelict Ship Found A Home

After having no luck in finding the owner of the ship found drifting into Beluroc Harbour, The Council of Barons decided to hold an auction to benefit the city's infrastructure.

The Auction House attached to the new arena agreed to hold the auction on behalf of the city. Once all was said and done, the auction generated a large windfall for the city and saved a new business owner a large amount on a decent ship.

In addition to funding some infrastructure projects, a portion of the auction's proceeds have been earmarked for the widow of the former Lead Custodian of The Undercity. An unfortunate accident while cleaning a gelatinous cube led to the former Custodian's death. We all wish his widow well and hope she finds solace in these trying times.

House Raddum Collapses

In yet another catastrophic event, the manor home of House Raddum collapsed in on itself, injuring more than a dozen of the house staff and family members. Killed in the incident were the Head of House Raddum, Baron Serrith Dren'Raddum and several of the staff members with him in the manor home's greenhouse near the central tower.

The Baron was a member of The Council of Barons and has been replaced by his eldest daughter, Illienna Raddum, as the first official sworn-in Baroness the council has ever had. It did not take long for schisms to form in the normally stalwart council.

Baron Gedwick Hornhalder was immediately up in arms about the appointment of Illienna to the position, stating loudly many derogatory slurs that will not be repeated here. In response, the Baroness challenged Baron Gedwick to a public duel.

When noon-time rolled around, The Baroness stood waiting for Baron Gedwick but the Baron did not show for the bout. Baroness Illienna used the public time to address the gathered crowd and assure them that the city will get to the bottom of these attacks on the noble houses.

No statement was issued by Baron Gedwick and The Gazette would assume the Baron would rather his cowardice go unmentioned from this point on.
