A new history has been created today as Real Madrid becomes the first club to win the most prestigious trophy in Europe the Champions League three consecutive times.
- REAL MADRID 5 : 3 ATLETICO MADRID (2016)
- JUVENTUS 1 : 4 REAL MADRID (2017)
- REAL MADRID 3 : 1 LIVERPOOL (2017)
Winning the trophy for three times means they get to keep a copy of their trophy in their shelve.
The match between Real Madrid and Liverpool is the one that intrigued a lot of people before the match was actually played. The players battled each other and bragged about how they are going to win on social media. The frenzy was in the air. Even people that have not been following the competition picked up interest to watch the final because of the tuzzle between Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohammed Salah.
The battle of supremacy and probable competition for Ballon D'Or between Cristiano Robaldo and Mo-Salah was quite intriguing. A lot of people glued to their screen to watch the battled play out on the pitch. This could be said to be the biggest disappointment of the night. The show off that football lovers really wanted to see was cut short when Mo-salah picked up on injury 30 minutes Into the game through a challenge by Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid Captain). It was an emotional moment when he left the pitch as he was substituted for Adam Lallanna.
We thought that Cristiano Ronaldo would have stole the day since his rival is off the pitch, yet he managed to put off a very below par performance for the night, i guess the reason was the very clinical Liverpool Defenders who kept him in check throughout the match. We could liken him to a toothless bulldog in the match.
Liverpool's Goalkepper Lloris Karius had the worst night of his career by putting off a very disappointing performance in a match of so much importance. The worst part of it all was that he made terrible mistakes that cost them Goals twice. The first was throwing a dead ball into the legs of Karim Benzema whom luck has been shinning on in this competition by capitalizing on goalkeepers mistakes to score goals. The second was the wrong handling of a power long range short from Gareth Bale which he haphazardly punch into the net. The whole crowd kept wondering how the goal kepper could be so sloppy, not just once, but twice.
Gareth Bale was brought into the game aroun 66 minutes into the game to replace ISCO. Analysts have said it was a strategy the coach coined to win the game which is to reserve Bale on the bench until liverpool players start feeling weary. Bale delivered the trophy to the European kings by scoring a brace to seal the game. The first goal he score for the night was through an acrobatic bicycle kick. That reminded us of Ronaldo's similar goal against Juventus in the quarter-finals of the competition.
In the end it was a nice game and both teams gave in there best but we can only have one winner. So
Congratulations Real Madrid
