Indonesia failed to meet the target of one title in the 2018 World Badminton Championship. PBSI also apologized for this failure.
PBSI's target missed after no Indonesian representative advanced to the finals of the 2018 World Badminton Championship. Greysia Polii / Apriyani Rahayu who is the only representative left in the semifinals must run aground.
In the semifinal match at the Youth Olympic Sports Complex, Nanjing, China, Saturday (04/08/2018), Greysia / Apriyani was defeated by Mayu Matsumoto / Wakana Nagahara 12-21, 21-23. Thus, Indonesia only brought one bronze medal.
Meanwhile, Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo / Marcus Fernaldi Gideno who also relied on to win the title actually stopped in the quarterfinals. The world number one men's doubles pair was eliminated by Takeshi Kamura / Keigo Sonoda (Japan) with a score of 19-21, 18-21.
"This result is not in line with our target of one title. I as the Head of Binpres and the manager of the team apologize to the people of Indonesia because they have not been able to provide the best results," said the Head of PBSI Achievement Guidance Susy Susanti to badmintonindonesia.org.
"We are certainly sad and disappointed with this result, but we have to get up and work hard again for the next game, especially the Asian Games that are in sight," he added.
