Springtime in Kansas

in #spring7 years ago (edited)

Two weeks ago I posted here about how Winter kept returning every weekend since the official start of Spring.

Poor little girl, she looks so sad sitting there in the snow!

Fortunately, there are now abundant clues that Spring has finally arrived in Kansas and is here to stay. First the tulips around town have all started blooming including our token contribution in the front yard. There were a lot more of them a few years ago, unfortunately negligence on my part has thinned their numbers some.

Our Crabapple tree has burst forth in a dazzling display of pink.

Of course the grass has greened up and is growing and now needs mowing at least once a week. Which led to this next little surprise sign of spring. Yesterday while I was mowing the yard, as I got close to the deck, I saw a flash of grey out of the corner of my eye. I stopped the mower and went over to investigate and found this baby rabbit.

She is only about 4 or 5 inches long at the moment. I let her be and trying hard not to disturb her, I finished mowing. Then this morning, I went out back to check if perhaps my little friend had returned. Sure enough, I spotted her hiding under an evergreen bush next to the deck.

So it looks like we have a new neighbor. I'll have to be careful when I mow the next few weeks until she gets big enough that I'll be able to easily spot her. Here's a little video I shot of her for you to enjoy.

Until next time...

Finally seeing some signs of spring!!! The baby rabbit is a little cutie 😊

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Spring is here to stay. But things can change at any minute. Just two years ago, we had three snowfalls in the first two weeks of May.

Blasphemy I say!!!!

Oh! I forgot to stay with the narrative of the "settled science". Now I shall be ostracized.

Oh what a web we weave....

fine work...appreciated..!!

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.

She is indeed adorable :)

While the beauty of the season is indeed finally awaken and no wonder it is called the most amazing season of all !

I think everyone likes Spring the best of all seasons, except my wife, her allergies act up something terrible this time of year.

Well I do like it as well.Sorry to hear about your wife.
While I do as well have problem with some smell of certain flowers like Tuberose.

While hope she stays well during the season.

Love the pictures of the beautiful flowers and the adorable little bunny.

Thank you, it is so heartwarming to see life spring forth and all the colors erupting around us.

Such a cute little animal. I'm suprised it let you get so close in the video without running away.

I think she was scared stiff. She was really trying to flatten down and hide in the grass.

You are sure that rabbit (as cute as it is) is not one of those clay garden ornaments? :p
It completely froze!

I swear it's real! Lol. Poor little thing was frozen with fear. She never moved the whole time I was near. I would have thought she was a statue too except for her little nose twitching.

You must be so scary!
:D

Naw, I'm just a big ol' cuddly teddy beard ;)

Terrifying! :)

thr greatness of spring is signing with all the photos, a late wellcome.

Late yes, but welcome all the more so because of the wait.
