Even though I'm a Nigerian and supports the super eagles, truth must be told that the Algerians deserved the victory over Nigeria as they played and had more attempts than Nigeria throughout the 90minutes.
The game started on a high tempo and pressing the super eagles before Troost Ekong deflected a Riyad Mahrez low cross into his own net. The second have began with Algeria sitting more in their own half which later gave Nigeria a VAR reviewed penalty which was well taken by the competition's leading goalscorer, Odion Ighalo.
This was not enough to keep Nigeria hope alive into the extra time when Algeria was awarded a stoppage time near box free kick taken by the Manchester city man, Riyad Mahrez who made no mistake to tuck in the ball into the super eagles net and this was the last kick of the match, the Algerians were emotional and cried including their coach. It was not the best of day to be on the losing side but the desert foxes deserved the win and therefore I congratulate them once again for the victory.
