Manchester United broke into the English Football League today with a 4-0 win at Chelsea and climbed to second place at the close of matchday one.

At Old Trafford, Marcus Rashford opened the scoring after 18 minutes as Zouma converted a penalty on his own striker before Frenchman Anthony Martial increased the red devils' lead at 65.

Shortly after, Rashford scored twice in the 67th minute, with young Daniel James sealing United's goal at 81, with Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot out of coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's options.

This was the first time since 1965 that the red devils have beaten Chelsea by four unanswered goals at home for the championship.

After the first round of the Premier League, United are second, second only to rival Manchester City, who beat West Ham by an enlightening 5-0 on Saturday.

Wolverhampton, coached by Portugal's Nuno Espirito Santo, made their debut with a 0-0 win at Leicester, in a match in which Rui Patrício, Rúben Neves, João Moutinho and Diogo Jota were holders in the 'wolves', while Ricardo Pereira completed the 90 minutes for the foxes.

Arsenal went to Newcastle to win 1-0 thanks to a goal from Gabonese international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 58th minute, giving Ainsley Maitland-Niles an initiative.
