AFCON: NIGERIA V CAMEROON - MATCH PEEVIEW AND PREDICTION

Today the 16th round will take place between three times African Cup winners (AFCON) Nigeria, and defending champions Cameroon at the Alexandria Stadium.

Gernot Rohr's side suffered a 2-0 defeat in their last match against Madagascar, the defeat dropped the Super Eagles to second in Group B after recording two wins in the previous two matches against Burundi and Guinea.

So far the three-time AFCON winner has yet to appear convincing given the wealth of talent they have. However, Nigeria have only lost twice in 12 matches since being knocked out in their group stages in Russia, keeping seven clean sheets in that time including four in their last six matches.

On the other hand, Cameroon played persistently in their final match against the Republic of Benin even though they dominated in the Indomitable Lions game unable to score against the Squirrels and the goalless draw made them fall to second behind arch-rivals Ghana.

Prediction
Cameroon have never beaten Nigeria in any competition since 2000, when they claimed one of their five African Cup trophies with a penalty shootout victory in the final.

Recently Nigeria have won four matches and have not lost a single of the last five matches, including a 5-1 aggregate victory to ensure their place in the 2018 World Cup. So with this, i think its not going to be so easy for the Indomitables lions to create much of a surprise in this tie. Although the Super Eagles haven't been up to standard in their previous matches in this years competition, but they would surely be prapared and try to bounce back from the 2-0 surprised defeat they suffered at the hands of Nicolas Dupuis boys, Madagascar.
