Giannis Wants That Gold Medal In FIBA World Cup

in #sportstalk5 years ago

Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks is one of the players representing Greece in the upcoming FIBA World Cup and wants to win the gold medal and give honor to his country.

In the NBA, Giannis has averaged 27.7 ppg 12.5 rpg and 5.9 apg thus earning him the award as the MVP last season. And because of his dominance in the game, he was nicknamed as the Greek Freak.

Giannis' really wants to win that gold medal and in fact, he is willing to exchange his MVP award for it. He emphasizes that he feels something special when playing for the national team. He said

"I would change the MVP title for the gold medal in China. I always feel something special when playing for the national team. When you are starting the tournament and listening to the national anthem, the emotions can’t be described. After the first basket, the first plays, it is an amazing experience and every time I feel as proud as the first time. The feeling of winning with the national team is incredible and I have said before that I will always be part of the team, as long as I am healthy like this summer."

Along with him in Greece's lineup are his two brothers, Kostas and Thanasis. With the three of them, Greece might just win the gold medals in FIBA World Cup and perhaps, Giannis can make history by making Greece achieve the first-ever gold medal in FIBA World Cup.
