The Filipino boxers will kick off at 3pm this afternoon for their match against the ongoing Southeast Asian Games 2019, held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.
Cagayan de Oro Boxing Team coach Elmer Pamisa confirmed to Bombo Radio that 2017 SEA Games bronze medalist Carlo Paalam was the first to break into the match against boxing silver medalist Khamsatone Khampouvanh from Laos.
Pamisa said that other SEA Games boxing contenders feared Khampouvanh but said he would not fight for Paalam before.
The boxing coach said that Cagayan de Oro boxing pride had previously defeated Khampouvanh in the invitational boxing match.
The Philippine boxing team has asked for public support and prayer for their SEA Games 2019 campaign.
Paalam said that this year's gold medal needs to be in place to prepare for the Olympics.
