The great Manchester United are slowly and painfully drowning and it is no surprise that they could not swim this season. There is hardly any shock within the fanbase, rather a shared apprehension and acceptance.
At the moment we have a large section of the fans blaming the manager while the opposite section is in full defense of Ole. However everybody is in agreement that the board have totally f**ked us. Surprise! Surprise!
Man United actually finished the West Ham game without any fit striker. Hardly a shock to anybody because virtually every single fan could not believe that we were going into the new season with only three young strikers - Martial(22), Rashford(21) and Greenwood(17). They are all currently out with injuries and illness.
- Pogba and Luke Shaw are also out.
What were we meant to achieve with this group while also playing the Europa League? Clearly, United do not have the requisite depth or fitness to participate in all of the cup competitions.
The only reason we are not even lower in the league table is because other teams are equally or more terrible than Manchester United. For the life of me I cannot remember the last time so many teams were in such a terrible rut. Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all caught the same virus - bottle jobs.
Ole Takes Some of the Blame!
It is so easy to blame the board 101% but Ole has to catch some of the flak from this stink grenade.
The team selection was absolutely woeful. Matic is finished as a footballer. Mata is finished as a footballer. Playing both in the same game is managerial incompetence.
Mata did nothing the entire game yet Ole only subbed him off in the 80th minute to bring on the more mobile Angel Gomes who had 10 minutes to pull off a miracle.
Matic was trash. Turning like a truck in midfield and losing possession almost every single time. What was Ole thinking?
The cherry on top was the Rashford injury. Honestly, it looked quite convenient. The way he just dropped down looked like someone who had just given up on the match and could not cope with the pressure.
Now we do not have a single fit striker in the United squad. That is not a joke. We do not have a fit striker at the club!
The midfield is trash and devoid of any creativity yet we honestly expect to get the top 4.
We are finishing 10th and I will not be surprised if we finish lower than that.
Really hard to watch and support #MUFC these days. Sucks in fact.
What is going wrong, or what is wrong is a very deep question.
I still believe the downfall happened after the club decided to sack Louis Van Gaal (after he won the FA Cup- people forget that, just a reminder). It seemed that the plan with LVG was to rebuild and he was. He had a three contract which at the end of, it looked likely Giggs would take over (As he was being groomed while LVG was at the club).
They fired him for a quick solution (and unsustainable) in Mourinho. Yes, Jose took the club to victory in the UEL, and yes, finished 2nd which to his standards was incredible and I agree, but then they tanked him for Ole.
I think questions should be asked about the board and Woodward. Jose hinted at transfers he needed which was not forthcoming, and it seems as if OGS is suffering the same issues.
I don't believe there is time for panic, but the board should be held accountable for a change, instead of throwing managers under the bus. And when I say accountable, Woodward out (Glazers won't leave, so I have held my breath on that).

There is a lot wrong but the least of it has been the manager. If you look at it since Ferguson left how many of those signings are still at the club. Blind, Schneiderlin, Herrera, Fellaini, Di Maria, Falcao, Victor Valdez, Depay, Darmian, Schweinsteiger, Mikhitaryan, Sanchez, Lukaku all gone from the club. Some of these signings were just terrible.
Mourinho is a good manager but the players he wanted to bring in would have only been fit for purpose not necessarily to challenge for the title on a consistent basis. We have seen him do so at Chelsea multiple times and now Ole is stuck removing the dead wood he accumulated during that time.
Out of the 10 signings he made only three, Dalot, Fred and Lindeloff have a a future at the club. Imagine that. The rest are either gone or about to go.
Truth be told, Ole is the first manager who has had all of his three signings actually be good and perform well in a thread bear squad. He is clearing the dead wood but it remains to be seen if the board will give him the necessary tools and finances to succeed at the club.
I would hesitate adding Dalot to the future of the club. Just my opinion based on what I have seen him do since he has been at United.
It is easy to forget that the young lad came from a weak league and we signed him after one year of playing first team football.
I wouldn't at any point consider the current state of the club to be a place where youth can develop. There is too much pressure. But we have seen that in glimpses.
I don't think he is a right back or left back. More likely a winger. I would give him a chance to develop before I bin him ahead of people like shaw or lingard.

If this club is going to be serious about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, they need to give him the 4-6 transfer windows to get this right. As mentioned, the 3 signings have actually been good. The lack of depth and the trash OGS got were not his fault. He came into that problem. But if they are only going to get 3 players per window, he does in fact need 4-6 windows. 4 is probably fair as that would be 12 new players to go with the players they had already. The rumors of Maddison and Sancho are welcome. After watching them both this past weekend I can say the whole dynamic of United could change quick if you had Sancho's assists and Maddison's creativity.
